"JIM Stynes's legacy and love for Melbourne will be honoured as the centrepiece of the city's newest social and community hub.

A walkway celebrating Stynes's life will wind over the Yarra at the redeveloped Northbank promenade to link the city centre and Docklands through the creation of the Jim Stynes Bridge."

Forgive me for possibly sounding rude, I'm not detracting for the naming of the bridge just questioning the reasoning behind it.

I feel in a rush to label something after the great man, we may have now taken away the ability for something to be named after him abit more appropriate to Jim. Not to suggest the MCG wing should be named the Stynes wing but I have never been an enormous advocate of naming a running bridge in the middle of the Docklands after a passionate ruthless footballer who plied his trade in the beautiful Richmond. Because of his excellent and mindblowing work in the community, it's brilliant to see everyone wanting to accredit him with a landmark (an honour which knowing Jim he would feel embarrassed about), just personally would have preferred we let a few years go by and find something that suits him. In 5 years when we upgrade our facilities the Jim Stynes Center...

I do not feel like being berated for disrespecting Jim so save your tantrums, I am super glad his legend will be living on, just think there may have been something that summed him up a little better than a walking path.

You assume such honouring will be limited to this ?? Maybe, probably not.

I have no doubt the MFC will award suitable acknowledgemnts where ever appropriate and able.

The Bridge is not an MFC honor. It it a Victorian honor. I am certain the MFC will give Jim many accolades. He did save the place. But even non demon persons dig the Big Jimma.

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock.     Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded.     THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

    Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years.
