Seasoned Players

Would just like to touch on players such as Moloney, Sylvia and Green, who coincidentally were all unfairly bagged, asked to leave etc. during the week on this forum.

There is a place for experience in this side. Moloney and Sylvia both showed plenty of passion tonight and I'd like to see them both in our team every week. They are both very skilled players, and how good was Sylvia's snap goal!! Hopefully Moloney stays at the club and Sylvia has a fantastic remainder of year.

And Look at Jared Rivers, he kept quiet for a couple of years but now, aged 27, he's had a fantastic year and looks as flawless as a defender as i've seen.

As for Green there has been talk of his retirement at the end of the year. One thing for sure is that I'm happier to see him on the field than not, he has been one of my few favourite players for many years and I hope there's good vibes between him and Neeld and Green himself can decide when he wants to head off (Ideally end of 2014-2015 i.m.o, still think there's more devleopment to come which he can lead in the next few years). We don't want another James McDonald or Russell Robertson situation either.

Our successful patch in 2010 saw the fruitation of younger players, when 30+ year olds Bruce and McDonald were getting tons of the ball and having an impact.

I still think Davey can provide something as a defensive forward, and Jamar is still going quite well and getting tons of hitouts.

So before you have a go at the older fellas, as easy targets they may be when we lose, just remember what they have done for the club and think about how all the games they have played can be of only a beneficial impact on the younger ones.

Beamer looked much better last night, Green not bad and I really hope he is treated fairly by the club and not forced out.

I also hope Sylvia plays well the rest of the year so that we can get something decent for him on the trade table - one win and a reasonable performance doesn't wash away years of bad attitude and lazy work rate, which will probably be back next week.

Moloney was excellent because he was put in a role that fitted his endurance levels. Sylvia played his role and showed glimpses of the attributes that will have high trade value at years end. Rivers has been good all year. Green's effort is there but the game has gone past him, hopefully he can see that at the end of the year.

Agree.

I think Neeld will make about 5-6 changes at years end, so some players will be leaving. But for now we can enjoy the win.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
