With all the emotion from our pathetic performances well over half the list has been named on this thread to be delisted or traded!?!?!?!

Lets wait and see who stands up in the last 2/3rds of the season. After attending the a supporters night earlier this week I am far more confident of where we are headed. Neeld, Schwab, Misson and Argus all presented excellently. I am much calmer and understand the direction. I am certain things will start to click before seasons end.

My biggest concern is re-signing the younger players.

There are IMO a number that are not AFL standard.

Jamar owes us for the years he's spent on our list and the faith placed in him by the football club. We're not a charity. We've allowed him to play AFL when others may not have. "Poor bugger"? What is this?

He needs to stay. The other options are:

- Martin (not a permanent ruckman and way too inconsistent...must eliminate the dumb stuff (as G Lyon called it...dumb player) before he is to be relied on as #1)

- Spencer (ahh, no)

- Gawn (already had 2 knee recos, looked pretty slow last year, deserves a chance but a big if)

- Fitzpatrick (no way a ruck...highly doubt will be a forward either)

- Sellar (not a ruck)

- Clark (must play forward)

Don't think we should draft any player over 26. Not while we are still shedding our older players. And the ones available are all past their best and the game is becoming harder for players young (skinney) and old (slowing). 22 - 26 seems optimal, hence Cloke such a target.

We've put up with poor inhouse culture for far too long. it's time to crack it wide open like a Raw Egg.

I'd definately go after Chapman, Scotland, maybe a Corey, etc. 2 of these may be enough Lllleadership to help our Jacks of all trades. Sam Mitchell would be a god=send.

I'd prefer the Sydney way (establish the culture and recruit player who will thrive in it) to an aged version of the Carlton way (import a big name strong leader and have them inoculate the club with the "right" culture).

I think by electing two young captains we have chosen to develop our own culture rather than import older players who have the right stuff. I think to bring in foreign leaders approaching retirement age next year would be a slap in the face of the LG and show the FD has little faith in their leadership potential. Not a good move in my books. Would rather spend our coin on a leader in the right age group with proven match winning capabilities (i.e Judd when he went to Carlton).

I actually think with this years restructure of the MFC LG we are far improved and on the right track to rectifying our "poor inhouse culture". We should continue to support and add to this group. A player such as Boak would be ideal.

I like the swans model as well.

But Roos isn't at Melbourne.

What I'm talking about is the immediate 2 years to turn this cumbersome overloaded with 'junk bonds' ship about.

After that I'm fine with the Swans model.

It would be great if we could land Boak. The reality is though, it will be very hard - every club wants his services.

The Ling suggestion though is absolutely fantastic.

I asked him what he thought of the Dees. He said we clearly had a leadership vacuum and a bad culture. He said the infamous 186 game was just bizarre.

He wasn't sure as to the quality of the list - said some of the young players looked pretty good, but, because of the lack of really good senior players, they probably wouldn't develop as well as they could.

He contrasted that with Geelong. In particular, he highlighted the importance of Cameron Ling. He said that, as a young player coming into the system, the older players are vital to setting the culture and attitude of the rest of the list - and he said there was no one better than Cameron Ling. He seemed to place a lot of Geelong's success squarely on the shoulders of Cameron Ling.

In short, Ling would be an absolutely sensational get for our club - particularly at this stage in its list development.

I see Josh Caddy has put off contract negotiations at the Suns (who have to shed at least 7 players), so is there any point in pursuing that line? (I recall last year a lot of posters during trade week were all over him).

Honestly I don't know much about Caddy, other than he's an inside mid who's highly sought after, and by Bomba Thompson as well. To me thats high praise.

I didn't watch TAC the year he was recruited so don't have anything to go by.

I'd rather trade Beamer to Essenplonk, & chase Caddy & Boak.

If the Hawks fall in a heap this year, I think we should target Sam Mitchell, as the Hawks may need to frshen their list. He turns 30 later this year and should have 2-3 years left in him, and would provide valuable leadership in the short term, as well as doing something nobody else on our team can do, extract the ball cleanly from stoppages.

Agreed, i respect CG because they weren't shify when getting players up there unlike GWS. We should go after Cameron or Treloar etc when their contracts are up with GWS in 2013.

Is Caddy really that good? I've seen some Gold Coast games this year and have been keeping an eye on him. He really doesn't seem to be as good as he is hyped.

If Essendon didn't try to trade for him last year I doubt his name would be so well known.

You have to take into account that the players at the GC and GWS (more particularly the GC this year) are playing amongst a team of young players. It is much harder for Caddy to play as well as he would if he were in a team with more than 1 good experienced player (they only have Ablett who has done a thing this year).

You may need to look at their form and think how much better they could be in a better team. That being said, we are not doing much better than them, so coming to us might not be a [censored] change for him!

I too have not been overly impressed with him, but he has shown some glimpses and has the body of an experienced player and a body type we dont have many of.

Also we need to think, why would they come to us? We need to show continued improvement for anyone to consider moving to us next year.
