The reality is after we lose to GWS and GC he will be under severe risk to lose his job. It's you that's missing the point. "Should" doesn't come into it in the context that you used it. Someone's head has to roll, even if it's not the right one, and you can't fire 50% of a list in one off season.

I thought it was ridiculous that Bailey was sacked. His first 2 years, the club was obviously tanking, and last year he had the team on the verge of a top 8 finish when he was axed, after internal politics affected the team's morale leading into the Cats disaster. However, that was last year.

This year everyone should support Neeld who is doing his best under the most trying of circumstances.

Since the debacle of the MacNamee appointment and sacking and reinforced by many other poor decisions, it is clear the administration of the club lead by the Board is simply not up to the job.

I have thought that Schwab and Connelly are at the heart of our problems. How it was possible to backflip from sacking Schwab to Bailey is beyond understanding. There is no doubt that the series of decisions covering Junior and Bruce, Bailey have undermined trust in the management of the club.

You can say what you like about the team being professional athletes but if you don't trust the leaders of the club then you can't give your best effort. Every successful company in the world knows you can't force the best performance from people, they have the want to give it. You do this by building a culture that provides the conditions for excellence.

Now I certainly don't condone players not giving everything and I can't bear to watch it anymore. But if what is believed to have happened with the Leading Teams report actually did occur then I now understand why. Culture lives or dies through leadership. If I was a player who committed to the process, took the risk to be honest and then had the trust I had placed in the leadership completely undermined, perhaps I wouldn't care anymore. Maybe I would just go through the motions and take my money.

Like others I would love know the facts, but it's clear something is very wrong at melbournefc.

& as such putting the club through a week of a PATRONISING TELETHON TYPE BEGGING for help

THEN a worker from webjet who happened to be a melb. fan suggest to his boss about sponsoring who then RANG THE CLUB HIMSELF.... !!!!!

I ceased believing the spin and tripe that comes from this club a long time ago. Never quite equates to whats happening on the field and usually the polar opposite.. What do you expect the players to say? They speak under orders. If spinning bull was a measurable stat we would be ranked first. And Neelds day are numbered as long as spin master Schawb remains.

I still don't know how he was taken back as CEO after what he cost us last time and if you don't know that do some homework. We just don't learn from our mistakes, do you seriously think that Melbourne Storm would consider appointing Brian Waldron as CEO again.

Off-field the club was hit with $600,000 in fines after voluntarily admitting salary cap violations over the preceding years. $250,000 was suspended on the condition that the club not be involved in any serious breaches fof five years. Joseph Gutnick had called for an enquiry on March 1 and admitted that the Demons excess payments would be more than $800,000.

Melbourne were forced to hand their first pick in the 1999 National Draft to Fremantle as compensation for taking Jeff White with the tainted money, and they lost the first three picks of the 2000 Draft as well. They later got back their first pick in 2000.

In August CEO Cameron Schwab retired after disagreements with Gutnick. Garry Lyon, who retired during the season, joined in a public disagreement with the President over the issue. With five vacancies on the board at the end of the year Gutnick endorsed Mark Rothfield, Peter Hayes, Gabriel Szondy, Beverley O'Connor and Stephen Bickford. This ticket was opposed by Ian Thorogood, Gary Hardeman, Ralph Glezer, Aris Imbardelli, Garry Pearce and existing director Angus Graham.

The club made a remarkable $1,494,645 loss. Salary cap fines, tax debts and an undisclosed severence payment to Schwab accounted for $1.2m on top of a trading loss of $298k.

The club end of season trip to Cancun, Mexico was notable for the players deciding to train while on the trip in an attempt to build fitness for the 2000 season, and to atone for their poor performance in '99

Wasn't Gary a beneficiary of some of the salary cap breaches and also investigated by the tax department?

Schwab and Neeld are not necessarily tied. Schwab may or may not finish at years end, and Neeld would still be coach with 2 yrs remaining on his current contract.
