Moloney and Jamar on the move?

Featured Replies

Not sure why there is such anger to these two.

Both have given good service to the MFC, both have only a few good years left.

The MFC will not play finals in their time left.

If I was either of them I would see nothing but grief ahead for the rest of their playing time at AFL level.

If a good offer comes up I would take it.

When it suits the MFC we will fling them e.g. McDonald.

Take the chance for finals glory plenty of other players have done the same.

That is what free agency is all about.

I certainly harbour no anger. I am however bemused :)

We would all do well to recognise the procedure here. . Player gets manager to suss out market. Manager words up media to fuel fire. . Some people have kittens and some fall about laughing.

All the whiles its a defletion game away from whats really happening and that is quite simply in Beamers case hes struggling to adapt and step into a role that Neeld sees for him..

Weve all seen this at our various workplaces. That person whos starting to lose their shine, starts looking for others or things toblame...starts looking for another job before the powers that be find out what theyve stuffed up etc.

I am however curious as to the logic when applied to an in-the-publics-eye type player. His doing-well or failure is all there tobe seen. So again drag in thePR spin ( via manager-media) to gloss over things.

My first option would be to have Beamers tenacity and ( lauded) love of the club resonate to a result whereby he plays a high level contributing game with consistency. That would be great.. Second option. Do a deal to exact compensation etc..

A word of encouragement to Beamer. Lad, the success you seek is not from afar it is from within. Look to yourself and the rest will follow.

Moloney would be poached under free agency rules meaning that we would get compensated via a pick. What do people think this would be?

18-30 for mine, which I'd take for a heart beat in this draft

Given they are "restricted free agents" to keep them MFC would simply have to equal the offer of the other club? If so, it seems Moloney (and Jamar?) are simply looking to leverage more cash from the MFC.

That said, if a club offers more then the MFC are willing to pay and walks to another club, what is the likely compensation under the free agency rules?

If we could get that I would encourage him to go.

Way above his market value imo. More like 36 to 50

Moloney is a restricted free agent so if the MFC really want to keep him, we can.

Jamar on the other hand is unrestricted so can simply walk and we would receive some kind of BS compensation.

Media rubbish surely re Jamar

There's been no word of Jamar putting talks on hold at all and recently said if there was a contract in front of him he'd sign

Re Moloney, disappointing news

I'm actually quite torn as to whether ir reflects badly on Moloney, or the club

If a life long Melbourne supporter, gets his wish to play for the club he bleeds for, and is disillusioned and wants out then is he being a prima donna or are there greater issues at the club

Perhaps he doesn't want out but is leveraging the club for the best contract he can get in what is likely to be his last big contract. I wouldn't read too much into it at this stage.

Im indifferent about either of them leaving.

Still trying to get my head around weather we are about to begin another rebuild of the list or weather its just a matter of adapting to the new coaching style. In reality its probably a bit of column A and Column B, but loosing Beamer or the Russian would probably push it into the Rebuild side of the scales

You read it here first. Or, at least you did, until Demonland deleted it on May 3.

So Jamar's said about a week ago that if a contract were in front of him he'd sign, now he's heading West, when Freo and WC have very strong ruck divisions?

Tad confused

South Australia is still west of Melbourne. But you wouldn't think the crows would be interested and port have got Renouf, Redden and Lobbe. No superstars but 3 guys who could push each other to make it. You wouldn't think Jamar would be in their window.

Moloney can leave to be honest - he's a flat track bully who seems to be part of the problem and not the solution. He'll get 40 posessions and 22 clearances against Gold Coast when he is not tagged. However, as soon as a decent team tag him he goes missing every time! It seems he is walking around with a chip on his shoulder. The fact that he was overlooked by 2 kids for the Captaincy and couldn't make the leadership group says to me that the playing group and coaching staff have little to no faith in him as a leader.

"If a contract were in front of him he'd sign" is the latest version of "I want to be a one club player" and both hold about as much water as "We back the coach 100%."

You can only believe Jamar will stay when you know his signature is on a Melbourne contract.

Freo?

Surely the Eagles are happy with Cox and Nic Nat??

It will be a very busy time over trade week & the MFC must be the biggest trader.

Not for players I hope, one quality mid if we can if not then top up on picks in this draft.

West Sydney.

He doesn't warrant a Tom Scully like "Will he or won't he" thread (although neither did Tom Scully :) ). His management has said he'll wait until the end of the year - I hope we're not discussing this for all that time!

Well as you seem so certain, verify your source

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
