4 Bate (slow but touched it)

3 Watts (3 goal assists)

2 Jones

1 Morton (a participation award)

6. Rivers

5. Bate

4. Clark

3. Watts

2. Magner

1. Bail

Honourable mentions: Howe, Moloney, Bartram, Jones

Im stunned people can give Magner votes!! he had 3 touches to half time.... i know he was doing a shut down role but you still need to win the footy yourself and Boyd still had an impact with 19 touches 7 tackles

Not giving votes but I was very happy to see Morton and Davey, both much maligned players show some really positive signs. Lets hope they continue on this path .

4. Morton (anyone that does not have him in their best 6 is showing serious bias)

Good for mine, but not that good.

6- Magner

5- Rivers

4- Bate

3- Jones

2- Howe

1- Morton

Good for mine, but not that good.

21 touches (8 contested), 6 tackles, 6 clearances. Ran harder to space all day than anyone else. Couple of clangers but he was clearly in our best 6.

He did some nice things for mine, seriously. In particular the chase down the MCC wing in the last - sure, it was a Dogs goal, but he ran 120m targeting 4 different players to try and stop it.

The huge clangers kept him out for mine though.

6. Rivers.

5. Bate

4. Jones

3. Morton

2. Bail

1. Watts (some really bad among some really good)

6 - Bate, who showed a lot of people that there's still room for him in the side. Could be a great goalkicking midfielder who uses his endurance to stay on the ground and cause a mismatch while resting forward.

5 - Rivers, who consistently played the sweeper role in the rain and showed me that he still can hack it.

4 - Jones, who is living up to my predictions and having a pretty good year in a terribly down side

3 - Clark, who did everything short of kill himself to provide a target for us up forward

2 - Watts, who should have marked a couple more balls and made a few errors which put a blemish on an otherwise creative (if inconsistent) day.

1 - Davey, who despite giving us two looks at what I call the "Davey Pirrouette" (jump up and do a 360 degree turn with one hand in the air instead of contesting the mark) within 30 seconds, provided some great outside dash and a ripper goal right out of 2004. There's still hope for him.

Honourable mention for Rohan Bail, who was really well-suited to the Bailey game-plan and is only just now finding his place in our new one. Here's hoping a few others can too. Jeremy Howe also provided a lot of leap and probably deserved the one vote. Davey just impressed me with his little trip back in time (that 3rd-quarter goal).

Dishonourable mention goes to Joel Macdonald, who I've jumped right off. I used to think (in 2010) he gave us some much needed hardness which offset his terrible disposal. Well, his disposal's gotten worse, and he hasn't gotten any harder at the contest, so he's out.

6. Rivers - so reliable today and good going forward

5. Bates - not quite a 'break out' game but close. never, ever stops competing. Did some clever things today.

4. Howe - brave and skillful. Took some great grabs.

3. Morton - may not quite be a write-off as yet! How can this be??

2. Watts - inconsistent but still the smartest (and maybe the most skillful) man in the team

1. Clarke - on current form the leader who sets the best example of leadership

6. Bate

5. Rivers

4. Morton

3. Jones

2. Moloney

1. Frawley

No love for Jordie Mac?

Kid would sell his mother to win the ball. Was diving on the contest like a possessed man today.

The problem is what happens when he gets it. I'd prefer the thing in Joel Macdonald's hands over Jordie's.

Harsh and untrue.

Jordie knows his limitations. Joel Macdonald thinks he's Chris Judd and Superman's love child.

McKenzie's hesitation whenever he gets it is part of the reason our ball movement looks so slow. Not only can he not run with the thing (since he'll get caught), if there's no-one to hand the ball over to immediately (via handball of course), he waits until the last possible second then just hoofs it as far away from himself as possible. My honeymoon with Jordie is over. That party ended for me last year.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
