GAME DAY (NIGHT)

Featured Replies

we carn't string more than 1 possession together, we ain't getting any possessions

In this second game we're under immense pressure so we've flooded back. Which means we have absolutely nothing to kick to.

It's accentuated by the fact that all our kicks are panicky snaps. We've had 1 mark to the Lion's 27 apparently and we still haven't scored after 19 minutes.

Again, decision making killing us.

The score really doesn't reflect how bad we've played. Hard to find any positives thus far.

Agree completely in this game, decision making is not flash. We just aren't playing the conditions well at all, long bombs when we get it and little composure. Still not worried in the slightest as after 5 months of training in good conditions we were bound to find it tough in the wet. I'm more interested in the games against the Pies and Hawks in better conditions to see how we go.

Gameplan = bomb the ball and hope for the best

This was a game to be won...........we lost..........against the GoldCoast, FFS.

Same old pathetic skills by us............ not them!

It's gunna be a long 2012 .

what a joke of a performence! were going too lose both games against poor sides.... positive is compo picks, with efforts like this, we'll get picks 1&2.....Tanking? no where just [censored]!

Absolutely pathetic!!!!! Geez what a disgraceful half! Bring back Bailey!!!

Leopards don't change their spots unfortunately. Attricious skills and decision making, conditions considered.

Haven't seen anything I wanted to see in terms of structure and game plan.

The bombing into 50 will not work. Can only hope that was partly due to the weather.

I'm very worried about our movement into the forward line. We seem to have reverted to the "bomb it long and hope for the best" tactic that served us so badly for the last few years.

My uncles best mate who's a bookie (25 years), said if a VFL/AFL team doesn't play a proper practice match (of four qtr's with score's) pre-season, then they're stuffed for the remaining of the year.

A serious comment - has this team been training with footballs or just doing running drills? Also, have we adopted the Collingwood approach - if so, it is a retrograde step, as successful teams adopt a new approach, not just copy previous successful teams. Just open questions at this stage - not trying to do a Labor Party on the new coach!

Geez NAB cup

let the baying for blood and sharpening of knives begin ....

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
