Chinese whispers may land Demons sponsor

Yeah great news on both fronts and as many suspected, the Chinese sponsor is gaining momentum!!

Well done CS. A Man who is always looking at the bigger picture. Tom $cully did not comehome because of alchohol consumption. He came home to sign a contract.

China could be a Massive get for the Demons. Our name is what it is.

Maybe the China trip will end up being beneficial in many ways.

In the light of the current state of the world's economies, if we can't snare a local sponsor, I would much prefer a sponsor from China than from Europe or the USA.

And someone should remind Caro that much of the alcohol fuelled behaviour from that tour emanated from the other club that was there. She herself has documented the problems of one player from that club whose behaviour continued to spiral on a downward path, who never played for the Brisbane Lions again and who, according to Caro, won't ever make it back onto an AFL list.

To connect lies about the tour from the Scully camp with this story about a possible sponsorship IMO demonstrates poor form from an otherwise well respected journalist.

Not true WYL. He came home for genuine "family issues". His father was considering a career change and massive pay rise.

I know nothing of the actual facilities or the altitude, but if the Chinese Olympic teams are training there one would presume than no expense has been spared, and particularly if we were to gain a local sponsor could prove less expensive as well as compared with the US facilities.

And just a logistics matter - those of us who have done it know the transpacific flights really knock the stuffing out for up to a few days each end, which can't be good for maintaining full fitness and alertness. On the other hand, traveling via KL (8.5 hrs) to Kunming - only a further 3.5 hours - and a time zone change of only about 5 hours can only compare favourably with Arizona or Colorado provided as I said the facilities are right.

Sounds exciting.

The biggest local sponsor there is a cigarette company...lol.. They actually paid to build of the two larger complexes.. What irony.

Didn't harm Collingwood in 2010, and I don't think it was jetlag that lost them the Grand Final this year. Seriously...

Its quite heartening to see that much of the hard yards over the years trying to get a Sino-Aussie thing happening is actually bearing fruit.

Whilst almost incidental in way of news it could have major ramifications down the track. First in best dressed into the huge Chinese market can only yield dividends.

Splitting hairs I know, but it's 3 hours difference (and just 2 during the winter months).

Im not sure this is apples and apples.. Melbourne for some years now has been developing business and sporting connections with China. We were the rollout team for the AAFL.. yes. the Lions were there but only really as a game of one team is a bit dull. This was our reward. Im sure others will look on enviously and seek to covet where they can but it takes time, lots of it, to get anywhere in China. Anyone else just thinking they can rock up and go will be in for a rude shock.

I believe the delay in signing a sponsor means Cameron rightly thinks that we need to get $1.5m+ for the FoJ to compete.

Let's hope it is soon, because we are probably eating into the future fund or whatever we call it...

When has CS quoted $1.5m for the FoJ? Still is less than the >$1.9m that people are expecting.
