Okay...that number ^^^^^ is the current membership. Not too shabby for so early in the new season.

Every year we do it , so see no reaosn not to continue :)

Where will we end up regarding membership ?

We picked up nearly 11% on the previous year 2010 to finish with 36,937 in 2011

Where to in 2012 ?

Im sure the club will aim to crack the 40,000 barrier and I hope we do , but i'll start off with 39,666 and hope im wrong :)

any takers......

41,022 hit the ground running from pre season for the first time since 2000 and some unsigned members will jump on board

I think the signing of Mitch Clark (do we have a nickname yet?) might get a few people excited and attract a few more through the doors, so I'm predicting a few more than this year, but still a little short of 40,000. How about 38,750.

Haha.

No way. We would be the laughing stock of the Vic sides. Imagine red and blue inflatable hammers filling the 'G'.

We would be like like the West Australian supporters with their stupid stupid inflatable clubs they hit together.

Nuff nuffs!

If we want to move past hardware items we can always look at 'Mitch' and the fact that a Mitch was The Hoff's character in Baywatch...

So 'Baywatch' or 'The Hoff' might be an option...

Jus' spitballin' here.

I donned mine at the Subi hotel after we got smashed by Wet Coke back in April. They were a hit with Eagles supporters too.

Had a few too many that night.

"Mitch the [censored]" - look out he's coming to get ya.

I know quite a few that were getting very disenchanted with Bailey as head coach, along with his inept goons. With all the positive movements in the off-season, plus the recruitment of Mitch Clark, i see no reason why we won't be able to again create a new membership record.

I reckon the club will announce it's new joint-major sponsor in mid November, as there is little action between now and draft day (which we won't have as big a play in this year), plus the current major sponsors will have lapsed by then. Wait until their tenure is over before announcing the new one's. Should the MFC announce another very positive result for a new sponsor, it would create even more positive momentum and could set us up to have a crack at breaking the 40,000 member barrier. Something that would've been unheard of, a couple of years ago.

It was only 2 years ago that we announced breaking through the 30,000 member barrier for the first time. We have to break the 40,000 member barrier though. This club needs to continue to grow, and i'm sure that it will.

40,000 members would be huge, and should be seen as the minimum for next year. A real tick of approval to all those involved in the off-field department at the club. The die-hards always sign up, even those who are eternal pessimists. We are the type that are already in too deep. It is up to us members to convince other 'fans' of the club that now is the time to sign up. Hell, poach others if need be. Our "army" will never be as big as the filth's, but we are just as passionate and we show the equal most resilience of any club in the AFL. How can we not be? If still after what will now be 48 years of drought, we continue to break membership records, club sponsorship records, best facilities we've ever had, biggest recruitment since Jeff White, best footy department structure we've ever had, most willing to spend in the footy department that the club has ever seen!!!

Halfway through this year, our club was seen as being very structurally weak. A lesser board, the Gardner board and all before it, would have seen it go backwards and fall down, of this i'm sure. Jim's board, Jim's team, whilst having had some set backs, have taken it in their stride, looked at the negatives as a positive as it showed where the club needed to improve and acted to rectify this, ultimately putting us in a stronger position than if it were never to have happened. Make no mistake, under Jimmy's watch, whilst there have been many to be given credit, it is his unparalleled enthusiasm that has made sure that this club has got to where it is now, and where it will be in the future.

Over an extended period, our club has never endured no darker time off-field, and yet because of this we are going to be made the strongest we have ever been. It is because of where this club was and where it is now, that places Jim as the equal most important person, if not the most important, that this club has ever seen. Norm Smith and Barassi are legends of the club no doubt. But in times of good. No one has had such an impact when times were really bad, which counts for even more imo, as what Jim has had. This alone places him as the top Demon by some margin over our clubs 153 year existence. Jim is a living legend of this club, and forever will be.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
