She got stuck into Lyon ® in a very emotional way....Totally unnecessary..Ross did nothing wrong, he was given a deal by Fremantle...St.kilda dilly dallied for 6 months...so Ross walked.

Big Footy "Please dont take Dave Misson with you Ross" interesting comments.

I lol'd at that thread. You could see their little hearts breaking right in front of you.

I do feel a bit bad for them though. Although their rough patches make ours look like nothing at all!

They have just lost their assistant coach now. When it rains it poors. God they are in the [censored]! Now we can say no matter how bad things get at the dees- there will always be the off season specialists- St Kilda.

I cant for a minute speak for him but judging by some of his recent commentary since departing I think hes got a genuine soft spot for us. ANd why not .

We can all look back and wonder why some things werent done sooner and such but I think in his own way he'll wish us luck, as I do him.

Absolutely agree........and certainly as a club, we have needed to walk before we can run financially to be able afford such appointments.

Hopefully in the future, the role Bailey played will be considered a valuable one for the club.

Hate to say it but I think she leaves her brain in 'park' sometimes

I have no doubt this will happen...Bailey did a lot of work with this list, not all went to plan...But he gave his all...If we win the 13th. i hope Bails gets a glass of champagne.

More Excellent work by our CEO i am thinking.

Caroline Wilson, your articles about Cameron Schwabb over the last 12 months are starting to look very flimsy.

As was your Ridiculous editorial on Footy Classified last night.

She really did go out of her way to take every opportunity to drag his name through the mud...to the point where her articles came across as being filled with distain and all credibility was gone...Cam seems to be doing a fanstastic job...

You are generous WYL.

I'd give him the bottle, whilst I start on my slab :/

Fair enough...i was a bit tight, but it wasn't meant that way ;) Bails will always be welcome around the MFC in my eyes....

We're really making a fist of it arent we.

Its as if weve decided to stop stuffing around and get serious.

To a certain extent... this was going to happen now that the financial pressures have eased and that more focus and funding can be given to other areas...

But no matter how good the coaching, board and staff are its all up to the players to pull their fingers out and get serious - there is alot of room to improve on and off the field - bring on 2012/13!

Wouldn't say I am asexcited about next year as much as I am about 2013. This is a great get for the club which along with the natural development of players should see big benefits for our boys.

All the talk over here in WA when Ross Lyon came across was the hope he would be bringing David Mission over with him. They say a week is a long time in footy I like what Garry, Schwab, Mclardy and the board have done. Kept everything in house no leaks and would not comment on any of the coaching rumours, very professional and now we can see a lot was being done behind the scenes.

Forgotten all about the doom and gloom people were talking up when a former player followed the big schilachos on offer last week

2011 may well have been the kick in the guts we needed

Ditto and nicely said.

2012 will be interesting. 2013....hopefully something pretty special

Looks that way Belze. With Gazza in the driving seat whippin' the horses! And Neeld having just grabbed hold of some of the reigns as well yellin' "shove over bro".

This might have been the year it dawned upon the club as a whole, that we were probably trying hard in some areas, but actually when you stripped all the fanfare away....we were quite amaturish, in a comparative sense, with the big boys. The Cats may have actually done us a big favor. Obviously the top clubs have the $$, players and recent success and all that comes with it, resulting in them being a few years ahead of the rest of the pack.

But i think we've finally realised that to be the best we have to become the best, or at least try and match them as best we can from the top down.

Misson being just one more piece of a very complex puzzle.

But we seem to be putting the pieces together quite nicely so far eh.

Now for 40,000+ members in 2012 and another big sponsor on the other side of the jumper!

And with success on the field in a few years....who knows....pushing 50,000 by 2014/2015

The Demon train has only just begun rollin' me thinks!

My only concern at this point would be if Gazza jumps off before the full rebuild is complete. Hopefully he'll recognise he's still required until then and stay on for as long as it takes. Who knows, he might even change his mind and stay on indefinitely.

Another key St Kilda figure David Misson walks out on Saints.

Not sure who he is, but this article suggests that we have poached ex-StKilda fitness manager, David Misson, from St Kilda.

Anybody got more insight into David, or even the role of a fitness manager? Obviously an important role, being involved fitness, training, and rehabilitation

Seeing as the Saints have been in three GF's in last couple of years, probably a good poach.

Yes, But as a wise man not, in recent years said, Mission Accomplished. David Missons mission is just @ the Genesis.

It's appointments like these that should make those who've chucked in their hard earned to help this club feel good about their contribution. It is making a difference and that difference will be felt on the field.

In the beginning the Sporting Gods created Football and it was with form. The form of an oval and and oval upon which to perform.

But the Oval was void and without life and so they created teams. In the first there was Melbourne and then all others were created in its likeness.

As by day the oval basked in sun but at evening it was darkness lay across those that came to see the teams.

The Sporting Gods moved across the water , the Yarra, and said "let there be light" and upon this the lights of the MCG came on; so much light !!

But these Gods had forsaken their own and the team Melbourne languished in purgatory. The Fuschias wilted without sun.

Melbourne was not to be without destiny though and from the forgotten barren lands of the Junction Oval the team would rise again to take its righful place before the people.

A plan was hatched and men set out upon a Mission and the Mission was got. The Mission now setout a plan for men and they will rise in the image of Demons.

These Demons will know no equal and they will lay asunder all those that dare test their might.

So sayeth the word...and the word was Melbourne

I was thinking exactly the same thing last night, we have been amateurish forever; even when we were winning flags in the 50's and 60's. This is the first time I can say that we are becoming a professional club and I reckon the turning point was the 186 game.

That game seems to have shocked everyone out of their lethargy and I think it's finally dawned on all that if you want to survive, let alone win a flag, you have to be very competent in all areas. I'm really looking forward to the future now it seems as if we are assembling a decent group of coach's and football personnel that will enable us not only to get to the finals but actually do more than make up the numbers. It's always been a bugbear of mine that even when we made the finals we were never really much of a chance, most years.

All we have to do now is make every draft selection a winner and hopefully do a bit of trading that will boost the overall competitiveness of the group.

Especially that last bit RobbieF.

We need a couple of ready made players to hold the line until some of the skinny kids mature over the next three years.

I also think it dawned on quite a few people during 2011 that all our eggs where in the kids basket.

Not sure we'll get every selection a winner Rob. But would be nice to get the next half dozen bang on the money though eh :)

On a more serious note, now that we have Neeld on board. Add some serious grunt and structure on and off the field (such as the Misson coup) and with some light showing by the end of next year and beyond, we might even finally start seeing the occasional 'out of contract' experienced star looking to join us with a sniff of a little silverware just around the bend. Finally the occasional disgruntled or opportunistic top liners looking to us for greener pastures and filling some of those gaps to take us to the next level!

For some, yes

But mainly I've seen 2 types regarding Scully

a.) those who said he ain't that good pre decision

b.) those who believe he is still going to be a gun (which I firmly believe he will be)
