Ross Lyon

SEN have officially reached the point of NFI re Ross Lyon. They carried the Lyon to MFc story then changed their tune to Lyon has committed to the Saints and now he is headed to Freo.

I like listening to SEN but wouldn't pay much attention to their coaching predicitions

lol

WTF?

NFI.

And this, children, concludes todays lesson on the degeneration of the English language

What an amazing set of circumstances.

So Lyon chose Fremantle over us?

Fair decision?

just mentioned on the Marngrook show also....Lyon to Freo...wtf

I need a drink...maybe two !!

Ross will most likely sign with the saints up until 2014/15.

He will be a very loyal man.

He's got nothing to lose with the Saints if signed up. Trade mature bodies and have a crack at another prem next year, or mini rebuild over the next 2-? years.

But, what if they bottom out. Mid bottom 10 next year and it turns into a full rebuild of the playing list. He said it himself, "Ä new era".

OR

A great contract of 5 years with the chance of extending based on performance, with a list people are very curious about and not to mention the upcoming draft selections. It would be like being a kid in a candy store coaching GCS (bluey) and Melbourne next year and beyond. The next Melbourne premiership coach is going to have a light shine down on him from the heavens. Is that why sheeds wanted a crack before? Dont get me started on Malthouse. And get paid a lazy 5 mil for it.

I think, Ross will be a very loyal man.

The MFC is like Marsha [censored] Brady at the moment. And were not even playing finals.

awesome, Lyon isnt loyal, nor interested in us......

Arrghh.

Another suitor for MM!!!

That's if they haven't snared him already

Lyon to Freo on AFL 360. Im not watching it though as obviously wouldnt watch that rubbish.

Just mentioned on AFL teams by Liam Pickering that MM is long into negotiations with a TV network about a role next year.

Hope this is not true as it would obviously mean he isnt going to coach us.

awesome, Lyon isnt loyal, nor interested in us......

Maybe a case of no job actually gong at Melb  No vacancy...cough !!!

ROSS LYON GAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNN

What happened there, he's going to Freo, what happened with us trying to get him??? Maybe if he was going to go he wanted to get out of Melbourne or we stopped trying to get him, I just don't get it.

Mark robbinsons twitter:

Once again: Saints confirm lyon has qauit. Story on superfooty.com.au shortly

(by the way melb never offered job to lyon, never spoke to him. They would have but never got the chance)

The club will struggle to attract a top line coach until all the off field issues are fully sorted and there is stability and unity of purpose around the place.

Anyone who thinks that was achieved by sacking Dean Bailey is living in fairy land imo.

You can forget about getting Malthouse. It aint gonna happen.

Statement from StKilda that Lyon definitely turned down offer now. The only thing left (slightly) in the air is where he is going, but that is .5 of a millimetre.

Its not a good statement about St Kilda is it?

"End of an era" by a coach that almost took them to a flag.

One of the oldest lists in the AFL. They have drafted poorly in recent years bar Jack Steven. They have huge culture issues off the ground as well. Financially stretched as well.

Not a welcoming prospect for a potential coach unless they wanted to undertake a rebuild. Their clock looks past midngiht unless they can miraculously turn around their off field and on field performance.

(by the way melb never offered job to lyon, never spoke to him. They would have but never got the chance)

I am sure they would have IF they wanted to.

Just a little bit shocked. 6 million over 5 years. just wanted more than that Scully kid got. Maybe the Dees do have MM signed up

Amazing coup by Freo.

I thought they were mad sacking their coach 2 weeks after season's end .... and all the time they have been negotiating with a hot property behind the media's back. Really dirty treatment of Mark Harvey ... but an amazing coup nonetheless

2 Questions

- Why did Lyon pick them and not us?

- Have we any interest in Harvey?

To me the answers

- Freo more decisive - more professional(??)

- Not really

Freo are a hell of a lot more focused and professional than us it seems.

They weren't even needing a coach and they got the best one around.

Wonderful. Just wonderful.

Its not a good statement about St Kilda is it?

What's Freo got in culture?

None, they're like Richmond that just sack coaches every 3-4 years, apart from Bailey we give them a go. They must be paying him a fortune, well over 1 mil a year.

Lyon didnt pick...there IS no job with us...its filled !!

Our incumbent...MM not MH !! ( cross fingers)

nupp!! ( I agree)

One thing to come out of all this. Don't believe anything that anyone connceted with a footy club says. Not Scully / Lyon / Mick nobody.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
