Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Schwab on the move?

If Schwab is off shortly, why would he be on the selection panel? It will have nothing to with him ultimately.

Because it's still his job. If he's not doing that bit, why bother doing any of it? He might as well just go on leave for the few weeks (or whatever) and just sit at home watching the cricket in his jocks until it's time to start his new job.

As long as he's still on the payroll as CEO, then he should still be having CEO input and making CEO decisions. He's not gone until he's gone. I don't know about you, but I've never resigned from a job and been immediately discharged of all my duties. If anything it's always been the opposite - "quick - get all this stuff done and handed over as quickly as possible before you leave".

I guess it depends which company you work for.

Many people get walked out when they resign, especially people in high powered jobs. Happens in my industry all the time.

I can also understand where people are coming from, in that if Schwab is not going to see out the length of the coach's tenure, then perhaps he shouldn't be making the selection.

Then again I'm not happy with the panel of selectors anyway, so this is just a side issue.

If Schwab is going to leave, he should do so at the end of our season, leaving a clean slate for us to start building the footy department again.

Sorry, correct me if I'm wrong...

But didn't Schwab re-sign for another year after the Geelong match?

All this based on a completely unsubstantiated remark on the channel 10 news?

Surely, if this had any truth to it, Mike Sheahan and/or Caroline Wilson would be all over it like a rash.

I can't recall any news of this ilk ever being broken by Stephen Quartermain.

Irrelevant. And you werent interested in that before you stated he should not pick the coach. Its unlike you to get sucked in by rumours. If he is the CEO he stays on the coaching sub committee. Basic common sense.

Do you have to answer everything like a second world war Primary School Teacher.

STOP TELLING ME HOW I THINK....it is so Dull.

I want to know where Quarterbrain got his source from OK Rhino....can i make it plainer???

If Schwab wants to go i would prefer someone else was on the coach selection panel.

If our CEO is staying & Quarterbrain is wrong then i have no problem....Choice wisely Cameron....

Must i make it clearer than that Rhino??????

This is where i am also coming from.....what is Quarterbrain basing this assumption on to put it over the news???

I doubt it myself, i think Ch 10 have got severe sour grapes over the AFL now. Bye Bye after this season........

Only because I deal with someone who behaves like a child. And I would never tell you how you think as I am quizzical as to whether you do sometimes.

I responded to your comment some days ago:

No point in him picking a coach then.

Stephen Quarterbrain the source was it??? << This wasn't a recent edit to your post WYL? You have done that before. >>

You have squirmed when I rightly pointed out that CEO should be on the panel.

Now you are big into was Quartermain the source. Who gives a flying one? Whether Qmain was or wasnt correct does not matter. Its been well canvassed in the media by Caro and other journos in some detail than leading up to the Geelong game that Schwab was going to be sacked by the Board. His position is tenuous. He does not have the Board's support. It fits in line that Schwab would be looking to leave. Its a matter of time in his last year of contract. It does not change the role he has to play while he is CEO. And whether Quartermain is right or wrong is irrelevant. Until Schwab resigns or is sacked then he fulfils the role of CEO and that means he should be in the chair for the appointment of crtical roles.

And if you are not going to have the CEO on the selection panel based on a Quartermain rumour then you should sack Schwab now because you are creating a lamer CEO than you have now.

Its not a matter of you making anything clearer WYL. Its the case that when you get held accountable for comments you make on the site (often silly ones) you spend time responded as though you are trying to slip the topic or becoming petulantly melodramatic in mock outrage when you are pinned....much like a child. And it fools no one but yourself.

We need Men running around, not 'Nureyev'.

Maybe you should get out more. Nureyev was one tough s.o.b. who pushed himself far harder (physically and mentally) than a lot of our blokes have been doing of late.

Quarter-who ? Hardly a newsbreaker ! Arguably one of the most boring commentators going around. If you are having trouble sleeping, tune in to "One Week at a Time" - you'll be nodding off within seconds.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
