There's a picture starting to form here isn't there ?......Trengove committing til 2015, Tapscott too, Jack Watts in b and f discussions. Add in McKenzie, Frawley, Gysberts, Grimes, and maybe the worm is beginning to turn on our 'soft' tag, and our fluffy recent history. BRING IT ON.

Jack is a big chance in the most prestigious award of all - The Jako:

27 - Colin Sylvia

24 - Stefan Martin (OMFG LEADER: Jim Stynes Medal for Ruckman of the Year), Jack Watts

Would like to see trengove win it because his consistent efforts in games and his 3 match ban for sling tackle. Plus he wants to be a melbourne player...

What a crap year to win the B&F for melbourne. Does winning the B&F for melbourne this year mean much?

Beamer has gone missing in the big games but Watts has risen to his hype.

Fellow Demonlanders, let me just say that living in Perth and having NIC NAT rammed in your face every day is somewhat overwhelming.

Great to see Jack performing in many different roles.

The Dee's definitely picked the right man in '08.

Watts for me, followed closely by Beamer, the Nude Nut, Trenners and then either Martin or Chip. Watts started slow in the first few games, but since then has regularly been the player on field wh makes me smile the most. Beamer has been great, but really gone missing recently when it has counted (perhaps due to a dip in TBR's form), Jonesy has just been mister consistent, Trenners has worked his guts out all year, but for mine not "shone" quite as much as Watts, and I really can't decide between Martin and Chip. That said, I would probably like to see Stef in there, just to give him some reward for the outstanding effort and progression he has shown this year.

It is always good to win the B&F DD

Your name is there forever.

It still means you are among the elite of the league.

And whoever wins it this year means they were not the source of the problems.

I would like to be able to say I won the B&F at the Dees in any year.

Yes he can.

The B&F has it's own system, but if D'Land and D'Ology are anything to go by, Jack leads in both with a bit of a break - so he could well do.

JT, Beamer and Martin would be thereabouts and with Port, Rich and GC coming, Beamer might excel.

There's still 4 rounds remaining.

That goes without saying...and yes i would be proud to be B&F of MFC...i'm trying to hightlight being a B&F in a premiership year would be what the true character of a B&F would be aiming for.

I think he will definitely finish top 5, may finish top 3 but probably wont win. In saying that though, I would love it if he did win in front of one the older, front running, players like Moloney.

Agree.Think Moloney,Martin and Jones are ahead of him but he certainly comes next after those 3

Posted

Maloney will probably win it, but he will need to finish the last 4 games well. If not, then Watts would be among the contenders, including:

Martin

Jones

Trengove

McKenzie (even though he started late)

Sylvia (Not consistent enough, but stats suggest he should at least be in the mix)

Just a reminder... coaches hand out votes, not just to the ones we see doing great things on the ground, but the players who follow the coach's instructions, the ones who might not get many touches on the day, but keep the ball out of the hands of an opposition player.

Watts winning the B&F would be a nice touch to finish off a crappy year.

Amen to that, Nash......

Yes.. and no. If you're a "don't be negative" type please just skip to the next post.

I wish him all the best, as no doubt all MFC supporters do. Have no problem with Jack, or his progression.

However an elite? 40 game player (at seasons end) getting the nod over players with 238, 148 (injured alot / poor form), 124, 119, 110, 106, TEN other players, games experience ...

Ie from 25% to 500% more experience?!

The future is bright. The now is depressing.

No doubting that our senior players should be very embarrassed if Jack wins.

As a matter of interest, how has the Demonland voting compared with the B&F voting in previous years? Do Demonlander's get it more right more often?

Not really. Our system is too much of a lottery I'm sorry to say.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
