According to an article in the Herald Sun, it is believed The Bank of Melbourne are our new sponsors.

link ?

It's in Sport Confidential, Herald Sun, page 71. Don't think it is on line.

So...next to the Westpac Centre will be the Bank of Melbourne Centre for Excellence..?

Demons Bank on Major Lift

Some of the gloom around the Melbourne Football Club off the field is expected to be lifted soon with the announcement of a new major sponsorship.

And the word is strong it will be an ideal marriage, at least in name.

We've heard the new sponsor of Melbourne will be the Bank of Melbourne.

Demons chief executive Cameron Schwab said last week the club was on the verge of announcing by far the biggest sponsorship deal in its history.

The deal is believed to include naming rights to either the front or back of the jumper for $1.9million a year.

Bank of Melbourne chief executive Scott Tanner said last week signing a major sponsorship deal with a top Melbourne sports team was a priority.

From Chris de Kretser and Daryl Timms, 'Sports Confidential', Herald Sun, 10 Aug. 2011, p. 71

Ok so from this news in the gossip column we can deduce that Daryl Timms reads Demonland, or got the work experience kid to whilst he went to a long lunch.

They're not exactly the world's biggest spruiker of facts, the confidential column...

Another coup for AFL.. StGeorge must be spewing..lol ***

(***total fabrication and tongue in cheek..

have to for those incapable of humour )

Did hear BoM from the club a few weeks back and didn't want to spoil their party,

It's a good get for the club and is a big lift in sponsorship. I am still disappointed that we have lost two other sponsors though. CEO needs to lift his game.

Umm.. hes just landed the biggest sponsorship in our history... It will stll leave space for another major sponsor(s) to utilise whatever space on strip is left.

Thats a poor return ?? Not sure how you arrive at that..

We will have MORE money...surely thats a win..Well done Schwabby

I'm not if the two new ones bring in more money...

Love Lawrie and the story behind Kaspersky is great but when it comes down to it - it's a business decision and if we can get better value somewhere else...

Hasta luego, por favor.

From the sound of it Kaspersky are now "moving on" to NRL to promote their brand in NSW.

I believe that Energy Watch will be the other sponsor.

Woh Robbie there is one out of the blue.

You will either be a genius or crash and burn.

Look forward to you soaring high

I could go with the line that a few of our players have earned the right to have the words "Energy Watch" on their jumpers but I won't

If it makes you feel better I believe that the 'crisis' at the club was precipitated by Schwab and Co. having a similar opinion of our senior players to you...

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
