"We have a powerful group of people in terms of influence, executives and business leaders and people who are high quality in all fields of industry. But we know if it comes down to money [to keep a player such as Scully from GWS] we cannot compete, but if it comes down to access to business networks and opportunity and contacts and reach, then no club can compete with Melbourne."

Interesting.

Yeah it would be good to hear a run down. Apparently there will be a video message from jim and it will be interesting to see if Garry talks because if he does it will be worth listening to. He is one of the best public speakers.

I'm going and would like to report from the function but, alas, my wife regards using the iPhone to send messages at dinner functions as rude and anti social. The report will have to wait but fear not, I'm sure if anything big happens, news will filter through.

And IMO she is right Jack!

She's right and you'll probably absorb more and enjoy it more without it.

Appreciate the effort.

GREAT NEWS!! Saw jack on Sunday down at Casey, him a the bull where the only ones to brave it outside amongst us.

He oozes character and appears a born leader, I'd vote him as captain next year

Thanks Jack.. Hope we as a club can return the faith.

Seems a likely sort to take on the mantle ;)

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
