Voldemort to miss historic Giant's opener

Questionable source I know but the scans have revealed he suffered a slight depressed fracture of his cheekbone.

Also unconfirmed reports that the scans revealed the cheekbone is made of 14 karat gold.

Confirmed...

Without Folau for their debut in next Saturday's stand alone AFL season-opener against Sydney, it looms as a public relations nightmare for the Giants.

As distinct from all of the other public relations nightmares experienced by them in their brief existence to date.

I can't see the matter proceeding beyond a MRP ruling that the level of force applied in each case was not considered sufficient to justify a sanction.

This thread has turned into that to which it was once so aggressively against.

Are we just plain unlucky, that at the start of every season we have many players injured and unavailable and for long periods of time? Yes I know other clubs have injuries as well, but we seem to have a large number of long term injuries, before game 1 every year. The Hawks I think have only Bailey out.

Wouldn't mind seeing the incidents. They might show them on AFL 360 or Footy Classified.

Saw them and MRP correct.

Righto then I would enjoy to share the lunch at Wongs Cafe (404 Glenhuntly Rd Elsternwick) for the controversial Banana Banquet lunch with any fellow Demonlanders before we play the Doggies at the G before round 4..Sunday, April 22nd.....game starts at 4.40pm.

I will be taking full advantage of the low corkage surcharge. They also have dishes without bananas.

If there is some interest let me know, if too many show up unannounced Steven may get rattled...but I doubt it

Umm as it's Jimmy's tribute before the game i will reschedule the BBL at Wongs, will consult the fixture and find another date

I will be away for the round 4 game and am hopeful that the tribute will be shown on Fox so that I can tape it.

Is it just me or are others feeling it too, but the AFL is really getting me offside. I just want to see football and all I am seeing is them stuffing up.

GWS shouldn't be taken lightly and need to be shut down, to stop the free flowing game style. If not, they will hurt you when they gain experience. They have very skilled, quick players, but obviously without the strength and experience. You need to play them on your terms not theirs. They also have a good smart coach in Choco.

I thought the coach's name was "Kevin"?

You thought wrong.

I taped all of the Stynes tribute games plus the funeral service today and I have probably got 15 hours to watch, in addition to On the Couch and my daily AFL 360 plus this weeks game against the Lions. I will have square eyes when I finish.

Really enjoying Thommo on Footy Classifed.

What did he say?

What did he say?

Smashing Andrew Demetriou for starters.

Getting stuck into Caro for being the AFL mouthpiece for another.

I hesitate to post this but I have Briefed running soon at Sandown at 4.40. If he can get a clear run at them in the straight from not too far back he should be in the finish.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
