Red that would be a different joke and one regularly used by a late friend Master Evans.

It shows insight and lucidity and was just wonderfully descriptive.

And I know you appreciate being in the limelight.ย

Having met the great (size) man, I can confirm your summation is 100% accurate Ernie.

Moon, are you telling me that Bitter But Bent actually exists in a recognizable form ?

Just assumed that he was an insecure little man with big man complex seeking reassurance, a sense of identity and a purpose in an otherwise sad existenceย in rural Romseyย .

You mean he is not a little guy in hat, glasses, gaberdine overcoat and a kit bag with cut lunch in rainbow paper ?ย

It was Gough yelling in response to a member of then then Country Party, probably Doug Anthony, IIRC.

Ernie is beyond old od he's dead. And good luck to him.

However, I also know what rainbow paper is. FMD, is there any benefit in this aging process?

Old and proud OD.ย

But as they say your only as old as you feel, although my creaky bones, dust and shroud suggest otherwise. But the spirit is strong.ย

We used to say this about Doug Anthony if anyone remembers.

I have yet to discover one Bbo. But as my wife constantly reminds me ageing is better than the alternative.

I must admit Ernie, that I have found a gaberdine overcoat a useful accessory when out strolling in the park.

You suppose I am a ghost, however remember that all the main religions believe in some form of afterlife whether it be spiritual, the separation of body from soul, or the on-going cycle of death and rebirth. Of course the details vary but the essential elements remain the same whether it beย early Yiddish teachings, Vedic (Hinduism) philosophy,ย Christian theology orย ย Islamic teachings.ย That is the explanation of why I have returned inย a form that allows me to watch footy and write on this site.ย

Philistines, boors, oafs, ignoramuses, louts, yahoos, hoons,ย vulgarians, plebeians, atheists, sceptics,ย heathens, beasts, brutes, peasants fail to understand these deep issues.ย ย

That excludes you OD but perhaps not some notable posters on this thread who are concerned with their vanity and matters of the flesh. ย Short term pleasures but forever condemned to hell, a rabid dog scouring the gutters of Mumbai looking for scraps.ย

Hineni, Hallelujah, Samsara OD.ย

I'm busted.

As a youthful peasant, withย vulgar,ย loutish ย tendencies, veering into oafish boorish and ignorant behaviour, my scepticism leading me to atheism, I gathered together with a bunch of heathen brutes to form the Plebians and wrest the Traralgon basketball title from the reigning elites.

One of my esteemed number was Bernie Quinlan.

ย

Aah those were the days, short term pleasures indeed. I still recount that I played with two browlowmedalists having also played tennis with Kelvin Templeton.

Gough was known to refuse door stop interviews (apart from his last one ).

When a young lady tried to ask him a question on the street she got;

"Madam, I, try to avoid speaking to strange ladies on the street".

They just don't make arrogant ,pompous, conceited ,well educated, urbane socialists like they used to.
