Surprisingly, I'm with you Daisy. And I'm still confident about finals this year, despite the company that loves misery here

Though I detest talking football here... I'll go with state of mind.

Our BRAND.. style is being decimated with withdrawal due to non availability.

My mind is actually quite tempt.

I don't expect much. It's often just that. It's not being.. pessimistic...not mfcss...not anything really;  just realistic. We aren't complete.. We fumble through. We trip

Those who know me here..

A beer on whether we make finals or not ?

Takers ?

I like beer by the way ;)

You'll deserve a rivet lager for winning that bet. I'm not in Aus so someone will have to do the honors

It's not anything I'd win with glee. But I'd drink  it none the less... Sorrows and all...

Bought some bananas today, bright yellow, looked ripe, first taste and green as anything, anyone had the same banana issue? ?

I really wonder if you and WYL would actually enjoy sharing that beer Bub. Truly. Some on Land are fixated with the failures rather than the advancements we've made. That's the prevalent MFCSS. We are all disappointed at the losses, especially Sat night, but on the whole we still are a real chance at finals this year and certainly next year. Add Gaff or similar to a healthy list and there is much to look forward to. I am always optimistic about what we can do next week, next year. I hope. IMO what holds us back as a supporter base is the culture of negativity and the fall back into failure and blame. It's what I hear over and over from other footy following mates. You can choose to not expect much, or you can look forward to next week and be positive about what lies ahead. Let's enjoy the journey together, through the ups and the downs (nothing is perfect), but i honestly believe there will be more ups over the next 5 years.

Rant over.

There's reality...and false shadow s.

If you or anyone for that matter would question my virility of the sort that is us winning...then go toss yourself wherever.

I question false gospel. I call out those of the Koolaid brigade etc.

I've been around the  block. I see nothing yet to get  all "moist " about.

Knock yourself out

Rant away Mr. shadow. Over the last decade plus I have agreed with your method however this year my faith has taken a severe battering. It just looks like the previous five decades. At the start of this year I thought we could make eighth place based on a small improvement over 2017. However this year we have IMO moved backwards. So far we have not beaten any team in the top eight. This is back wards from the same position last year. I envy your optimism.

I am rapidly running out of decades MSF. In fact I have at best one left I have no time left for another regime change. It is by 2023 or never. Sadly it looks like another grand plan which falls short.

Yes, the reality is we are in the 8 and a real chance at playing finals this year. That's a fact, not a shadow, a false gospel or getting all "moist". Some on here conveniently don't want to accept that we are as much a chance of finals as we are not. But if you wish to keep wallowing in your MFCSS then as you say, knock yourself out.

I too have been around the block, have seen many false dawns, but no premiership. I'm realistic enough to see this list is in a good shape moving forward with a coach that is learning and growing with the team.

I think we can probably agree to disagree. I'll leave it at that for fear of going off banana topic.

Go Dees!

I like quite a number of fruits however bananas are close to the top. Sad part is my intake is now restricted so I have to limit the number of Banana and peanut butter sangos I consume. There is little to recommend the aging process.

Flipper should get done for holding the ball?

Constable Thomas Lonigan who was murdered by Ned Kelly. The face is vaguely familiar.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
