I am going and hoping to take along my 14 year old niece who has just arrived from Egypt. She lived with us for a year several years ago and back then we went to every home game but she has never seen us win a match. How bad is that?

Very hard to get her attention for tomorrow, she remembers our last game together where we both got drenched in the rain sitting with the cheer squad watching MFC lose yet again

For the record as well, my bespoke tailor requestes payment for his services! Apparently this is a problem for BBO who expects it is more payment and enough to be a model and walking advertisement for anything my tailor produces.

Will be going tomorrow, shall head down early to catch Casey v. Collingwood on the other side of the tracks.

I will be at the Casey game first with my son... I will be the old fart wearing a black t-shirt bearing three Mexican day of the dead (dia de muertos) skulls...feel free to approach and say hello if you see us.

Hardtrack doing the 1030 am seconds match at Olympic Park but not the ones at the Gee? I would love to be at Olympic for Casey but had been pre-booked for a brunch unfortunately. Oh well.

Will be at the Gee as well...this is my son's birthday trip to Mlbourne to see the Dees, so he gets to see as much as possible. Footy overload tomorrow :-)

I will keep a look out for a Day of the Dead tee shirt at the Gee. But if we lose "Don't Blame Me!"

Haha... very clever.

Just a ...misunderstanding Earl Hood. I'm sure I sent a cheque ....... must be Australia Post's fault.

Had to buy a Helstra on demand account so I can watch the MFC play in 2015.

Downside is I can only watch the game on mymobile or tablet.

Luck I do have a 22" tablet somewhere in the house.

Sounds good, jazza. Have a great time, and no durries at half time (or any other time).

Actually had the port bottle passed around on a cold day at half time, and durries enjoyed by most.

Afraid those days are gone R@B.

Best of luck to all those bravely venturing out today. I won't get any further than where I left the remote last night.

But here are a few things you might like to try on the way to the G (inspired by Old Dee's many references to wet tram tickets):

Stones Green Ginger was the favoured heart starter when I played. Usually a 3/4 time booster.

Typical softkok romesy beetles attitude.

3/4 booster, hahaha, try putting your head over the footy, that usually works.

No wonder our club is buggered with this attitude, out with the soft and lets get some tuff buggers with coconuts in here to help us climb back to the top.

Back in my day we passed around quite a number of things.

That was in the amateurs of course so we never lowered ourselves to drink that swill. Top shelf only.

These days I believe the ice pipe is the must have accessory for the country footballer.

There was a time when a snort of snuff was de riguer during the break, but that was back when ol'dee had hair.

It would be nice to finally win a first round game after 10 years of losing them.

I will be there today. No fishnets for me. In fact, no balaclava either. It tends to get the hackles up of the security monkeys.
I'm wondering where I should sit. The newly minted Robbie Flower wing is tempting but seems a bit removed from the action. I tend to sit near the cheer squad which is great if we are winning but if we are down, it is the depths of despair.
If we win, who knows? I might upgrade to an 11 game membership. My work situatsion and the general stinkitude of the MFC has forced my hand on a 3 gamer this year.
I am sure Uncle Bitter will look quite fetching in his get up. Of that, I can guarantee.

I am shocked!

Did it actually happen?

I sat up near the Robbie Flower sign for the first three quarters, and then down into the dry area (left forward flank to the Punt Road end) for the last. Was almost level with Watts when he lined up for the set shot goal. It is a great spot when we are kicking to the Punt Road end and scoring, as you can hear the players calling (and the thump of the tackles). Up top definitely gives a better perspective of the overall play, and was a great place to watch Tyson's goal in the 2nd quarter unfold.

I presume you have upgraded by now ... :)

I was there DF -- it did happen!

I too had difficulty believing and thought some of the "Health Substances" Biffen supplied me with were Hallucinogens!

BTW. As I was walking back through Fed Square there was this Canuck sheila putting on a stand up show - total nutcase. I'm wondering if it was Mable Demon!

cheers to hardtack and son making the trip down from sydney town

seeing two victories must have made it all worthwhile

od, would like this. got on a bus after the game (train bus) and this middle aged geezer got up off his seat and offered it to me

he must have thought i looked close to a hearter, which was probably true - lol

or maybe he fancied me?

Don't ask why, DC -- just take the seat and smile ... :)

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
