Sorry, I forgot Jizz, the purveyors of fine wine that I patronise frown on customers arriving in gumboots.

BTW. I was having a post dinner cordial with a friend last night while he was sucking joyously on a ciggy. It's really that after dinner smoke that is most enjoyable - almost sensuous. You understand I'm sure Jizz.

Think your gonna win this.

Red wine, whisky and euro trash beer all taste no better than a cheroot.

Just out of curiosity do you gargle when guzzling wine,or just let it near drown you and move on to the next bottle?

Havent figured that out yet.

Sniffing a cows rectum this morning wasnt the ideal start with a hangover.Biff was ok,reminded him of the GAT.

It's only a temporary aberration while I endure this Febast foolishness and show Jizza up!

sheez bbo, you spelt it wrong it's "elagabalus"

sheez bbo, you spelt it wrong it's "elagabalus"

I try to emulate Elagabalus dc - it's not a temporary condition. A bit like your good self with the blue rinsers I suspect.

Good luck with your weight losing diet BBO.

although losing a few pounds wont make you look better,It will make you feel better.

They say most south american farmers end up looking like their stock, hope this isnt true.

Uncle Bitter I think your new name is most appropriate. It defines your Febfast efforts AND your (now not so) new found gym abs. Are you still frequenting the local lycra 'n' sweat establishment? ......and I'm not talking about The Gat.

Thank you for your enquiry Moonie. It is good that you continue to try and learn from your betters.

As to the Health Club. It was trundling along quite well but then came some misunderstandings. What I considered friendly social overtures to some fellow (female TBH) athletes was misinterpreted or misunderstood and management naturally took their side. Then there was the business with the fungal infection .... well it was all too much and I just wasn't enjoying it anymore.

Not surprised, except for the female bit.

Fernwood was never going to be the right place for you to shed those unwanted Stones.

Out of the knick I see Biff. Or was it rehab? No, no, no!

Au contraire La Lune.

I have found myself employed, however honestly one cannot say.

It's all subjective.

Gainfully, I hope. Your gain.

Btw your French is impeccable.

'twas the three day growth that gave him away i hear.

Ive just prepared my usual Friday night Pizzas and when my delectable company arrives I shall take them outside to cook. The outside cooking is also a nostalgia thing for the lads.

Anyway by this stage I would usually have slopped down 3 or 4 stubbies while at least one bottle of shiraz is breathing its last. However , as an abstainer, I have been sipping soda and lime (haven't got the other stuff yet dc).

Now could one one you genii please explain how a couple of sodas ( a fraction of my normal liquid intake) have rendered my ample guts full ?

presumably you are not spewing as much now

and you did say your little visits to the ymca are no more, on your being banned for licentious behaviour (nudity only being allowed in the swimming pool)

So you could say you have had a gutful of abstinence? :):)

No one seems to get over to the music thread in the General forums much, so I thought I would do a little self promotion here... I just want some critiques so that I can feel warranted in my self deprecation... if you like, say so, if you hate it or think its shite, say so.

As advised on the page, put in headphones and crank up the volume to cover hide the weaknesses and close your eyes because we never got to put a real clip together and just cobbled a bit of home made footage instead.

HT I have been there and voted. The music is great, I like the lyrics, the guitarist is a knockout. Now the lead singer shows promise but needs to work on his stage presence, energy levels. As they used to say on New Faces you need to look as if you are enjoying yourself and you could cut the hair but maybe I am just jealous I am bald.

Thanks EH... stage presence and energy levels increase exponentially, commensurate with the intake of alchoholic beverages.

You are so crass at times dc! Gentlemen do not spew.

Yes.

Your liver will thank you BBO. Might this be ongoing?

Wash out your foul mouth Loonie! I just ordered 15 bottles of fine Shiraz. Like Julius Caesar, they will be done by the ides of March.

Good get Tim Thanks for the reference

Did enjoy it

The guitar is great especially the bottleneck segment.

You are right it needs to be cranked up.

If you are ever performing in NE VIc let us know It would be interesting to catch you if this is a representation of your music.

Thanks DP... the guitarist will be visiting Australia (from the UK) some time this year I believe, but whether we play again is an unknown; I'll need a bigger car to accommodate the walking frame and then we would need to find a bass player and drummer who are willing to put up with the smell from our urine soaked trousers.

I posted on the other site Hardtack to say I liked it. Lots of talent among the MFC fraternity.

We probably have the rhythm section here and the heritage of Mayday Hills asylum means that it a state we can all comprehend.

But appreciate the walking frame does provide inconvenient moments. The Angels are headlining a concert down here and await with interest their lineup. The Brewsters were magnificent there last outing here but did comment themselves about the altered life styles of an ageing group. Makes you wonder how Keef, Mick, Ronny etc keep doing it.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Having convincingly defeated last year’s premier and decisively outplayed the runner-up with 8.2 in the final quarter, nothing epitomized the Melbourne Football Club’s performance more than its 1.12 final half, particularly the eight consecutive behinds in the last term, against a struggling St Kilda team in the midst of a dismal losing streak. Just when stability and consistency were anticipated within the Demon ranks, they delivered a quintessential performance marked by instability and ill-conceived decisions, with the most striking aspect being their inaccuracy in kicking for goal, which suggested a lack of preparation (instead of sleeping in their hotel in Alice, were they having a night on the turps) rather than a well-rested team. Let’s face it - this kicking disease that makes them look like raw amateurs is becoming a millstone around the team’s neck.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
