Anyway just home and just read the Trengove thread --- If true --- I'm done as a Dees/football supporter.

Does that mean I won't need to stress about you putting your hand on my leg at the footy anymore. Phew! Thank Christ.

BTW, I believe generous Jazzy O is going to get a cheap pair of $2 chemist glasses for your yr 9 student. Big of him. The real Jazzy O was renown for wearing all kinds of expensive and exotic bling and for being kind hearted (despite the odd run in with Biffen). Demonland's version is just miserable and ignorant.

Wow. First look on here in a coupla days and can't believe how feral it has become. Fan vs Fan. Brother vs Brother. Teacher vs Farmer. Snipers sniping from the sidelines and mud being thrown back. Mediators trying to calm things. What have we become??

And then in the middle of it all, some heart rending and apparently real stories of hardship, rebellion, charity, and family violence. Very sobering.

I'm reminded of that great speech by an American President:

I think it was President Jack Nicholson in Mars Attacks: "Why can't we all just get along?"

Good morning Australia.

I am in nth California with a very old friend and no one up here even knows what AFL is let alone heard of the Dees.

Cruise starts Sunday Aus time.

So the nett result as I see it so far is we have picked a blues reject.

Hmm back to the Budweiser .

Happy days, mate.

Still not offering to put your hand in own pockets.

Keep slinging cowboy.

47 on a quiet news day.

Pretty much. Nothing happens around here

Are you sure you are on the right thread? Or are you watching Pride and Prejudice?

Because we all love the argy bargy!

If defecation is not out, you are in deep shite!

I think DC means defection. Give him some slack he often struggles with the detail.

This thread never disappoints

you haven't answered the question

does he measure up to your lofty ideals or is he a filthy dh?

Agreed, but the problem is that he is an A grade bloke and Demon, and one who, apart from probably only Nathan Jones, is the most loved player at the club.

FWIW I can see the sense in the deal, but part of me wants there to be some other means to the same end ...

Part of the normal emotional conflict of supporting the Dees ...

A hard life, OD, but someone has to do it ... :):)

talking of missing persons, where the bloody hell is stuie?

Probably searching for gifs ...

What question? I do not wish to enter a discussion about purging bodily waste. Anyway what about you Lothario? I'll bet your silly comment was a result of the mental anguish of choosing between blue rinsers at some local dinner dance. Biff's drugs are apparently doing the business!

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?

After kicking the first goal of the match the Demons were always playing catch up against the Saints in Alice Spring and could never make the most of their inside 50 entries to wrestle back the lead.
