rhaz 342 Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Hmm... Bennell and Blease named. It's confusing to think what we should take out of it - Bennell dropped? Blease just given continuity?
Dappa Dan 2,188 Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I reckon both those names would have been first on the list to be dropped if there were players that HAD to be moved up. Maric/Bate/Tappy for example.
Dappa Dan 2,188 Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Aaaah. Never mind. Forgot there's no red and blue this weekend momentarily. Blease getting a good 4 quarters in would be good. Bennell needs to be dropped for the weekend after next though.
Nasher 33,686 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Hmm... Bennell and Blease named. It's confusing to think what we should take out of it - Bennell dropped? Blease just given continuity? I'd take out of it that Melbourne have a bye this week, and the players who need the run and are eligible for one will get one. It means stuff all in the context of who will be playing next week. Presumably when MFC have a bye, there's some rules (or at the very least, a gentlemen's agreement) about which players are eligible to line up for Casey. Much like when Casey are playing finals after the MFC season has finished.
Blistering 545 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 No Cameron Bruce for the Hawks - I'm disappointed. He was supposed to be back this week.

Much like when Casey are playing finals after the MFC season has finished. It means that both need the work and that both are fighting for the space. Tapscott will go in you would think. Bennell was disappointing against the dogs. Blease needs game time. Let the cream rise to the top.
old dee 24,093 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 No Cameron Bruce for the Hawks - I'm disappointed. He was supposed to be back this week. I saw him on the TV tonight with the Hawk party off to Tassie today!
DeeSpencer 26,717 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 There should be 3 spots for the following players in Darwin: Macdonald (depending on fitness), Morton, Blease, Bennell, Bartram, Tapscott Old fashion playoff for selection. I'm going for Macdonald (recover from injury), Tapscott and Bennell.
Whispering_Jack 31,381 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 The following tweet from Craig Lees of the MFC suggests that Robert Campbell will be playing in the Casey Reserves tomorrow:- Casey V Box Hill tomorrow. Reserves 11am seniors 2pm @ casey fields. Reserves will have 3 dees playing, the seniors 14. Get along! Very much consistent with the youth push at Melbourne.
GawnWithTheWind 604 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Does a Melbourne membership gain free entry to Casey games?
Demonland 74,547 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Does a Melbourne membership gain free entry to Casey games? It does. However, please note that when memberships were issued this year, members should have received a Casey Scorpions membership ticket. You should take this with you to guarantee free admission although I've noticed that the people at the gate are very nice and helpful so bring your MFC ticket along if you don't have a Casey ticket.
KC from Casey 7,213 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 It's absolutely blowing a gale in Cranny. The Scorps have been exposed to this sort of weather every time they've come out to play in the last five or six weeks!

KC from Casey 7,213 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Forget the wind. It's absolutely persistently pouring down here at the moment. Reminiscent of the day last year when Lynden Dunn kicked a bag against Box Hill last year. The Ressies had a big win against one of the leading teams: Casey Scorpions 0.1.1 3.2.20 5.6.36 7.11. 53 Box Hill Hawks 0.2.2 0.5.5 0.5.5 1.7.13 Goals Casey Scorpions Purves Lindsay Bell Patti Lees Clay Campbell Box Hill Hawks Johns Best Casey Scorpions Campbell Lindsay Panozza Bell Lees Baumgartner Box Hill Hawks Murphy Kennedy Purcell Van Unen Johns Phelps
Confusedee 0 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Is there any radio coverage? Whats happened to Casey Radio?
KC from Casey 7,213 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Weather getting worse. Bater kicks first goal after a footrace in the wet. He lost the race but his opponent slid across the ground and the big redhead snapped truly. 1.1.7 to 0.0.0 after 14 minutes.
KC from Casey 7,213 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Second goal to Bate. Late in the opening quarter 2.2.14 to 0.0.0.
KC from Casey 7,213 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 And that's the quarter time score.
DeeSpencer 26,717 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Bate playing well in the wet. The sky is falling. Hope some of the others are playing well as well. Tapscott for one.
KC from Casey 7,213 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 First goal to Box Hill after 9 minutes. Casey 2.3.15 Box Hill 1.0.6
DeeSpencer 26,717 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Is there a breeze favouring one end? (ie the end Casey had in the first)
KC from Casey 7,213 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Goal off the ground from Dunn puts Casey 15 points in front.
KC from Casey 7,213 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Half Time Casey Scorpions 3.4.22 Box Hill 1.1.7
