Our Senior Listed Players

Now that we are passed the half way mark of 2011, the only senior listed players I give a pass mark to include:

Jamar

Sylvia

Rivers

Moloney

Garland

Jones

Even then, Moloney has to be a standout for the B&F.

Onfield leadership remains our archilles heel. When we get into trouble during a game..there is no leadership to stem the bleeding

I can only have confidence in the future with the young kids where I hope there will be a standout group of young men who will do everything in their power to stop the rot that is the MFC leadership issue.

How old would senior be, 24 and over?

I think it's a good list.

I have a couple to add.

Stefan Martin has been excellent, particularly post Jamar's injury

and;

Joel MacDonald has been good to excellent in every game he's played.

For mine Rivers has been 50/50, if a pass mark, not by much. Also a bit harsh on Frawley (assuming he is a senior player in your definition) built slowly coming on an interrupted preseason but has been solid since about round 5.

Better define 'senior listed players'. Trengove is on the senior list, no pass mark for him? Or if age based, Garland is 23, so what counts as senior.

Players who have maintained high standards IMO are;

Moloney

Jordie McKenzie

Jamar

Sylvia

Jones

Garland

Bail (very consistant until injured)

Martin

Trengove

Scully

Is it easier to do the fail list?

Davey - Struggled to impact in games and then had the shocker against the saints were everything went bad

Green - Ordinary start to the year, then played out of position and then found some form. But still too many missed goals, too many poor attempts to draw a free and not enough relentless attitude in his game

Not sure if he counts as senior but Dunn has also been disappointing.

The thread title is pretty much the opposite of what this thread is about.

It's not about specifically all the senior listed players, it's about all the more senior players... on the list (senior, rookie or otherwise).

Any chance it can be changed to reflect the real issue being discussed?

For that matter, it'd be handy to have a definition of what is meant by "senior" players in this thread in particular.

I have a feeling that I know what is meant, but the lines are blurred.

As an example, Nathan Jones may be a few years older than Trengove et al, but I'd hardly refer to him as a "senior" player (in this instance).

Bartram had a good run before getting injured. He was very consistent and performed at a high level when we were short of tough mids. He is finding it hard to work his way back in with Jordie McKenzie playing so well and the FD looking to get more games into other players. If he had not got injured we might be listing Bartram on that pass marks list. Tappy could also be in the same boat barring his injury.

I think Trenners has been a shining light this season, he has not gone missing all that often, and has provided some surprised hardness with his contested possies and strong (sling....) tackling.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
