Walkers mark was amazing. It was like a basketball dunk where someone just absolutely destroys the direct opponent.

I seem to be alone (or close to it) in thinking Walker's mark should not win MOTY.

Sure it was a great mark, but people talking about "best in 40 years"..? It was a chest mark! That ruins it for me.

You are not alone. Ricky was above the head of 22 for the Dogs who himself was off the ground. that puts him higher than Walker for a start. He was well above Gilbee who had jumped. He got up there on his own not on the blokes shoulders like Walker. If you look at Tapscott if Ricky was on his shoulders that would be equal to Walker's mark but he was a mile above him. IMO Ricky's was far superior as he was higher with more opposition and got there himself.

Read closely.....1 of the best!

Not better than Petterd's? Honestly, people are being a little delusional.

This is like a primary school argument about the best hanger .Love it .

Steve Smith's was the best I ever saw for pure height.

Capper was the most consistent .

He dropped what looked like a simple mark in the goal square towards the end of the 1st QTR today.

If only it had of stuck in the last few seconds against the pies last year. BOo Hoo.

Good player, and i think he will improve when the team starts winning more games.

I reckon Walker's is overated. One on one marks don't have the same appeal to me as the ones where a guy climbs over a pack.

good smother

FANTASTIC smother.

It was an amazing smoother! He does some really great team things, can let himself down with kicking and decision making but always has a crack.

Cringe.

I think his brother Shaun was better.

+ 1

Great memories of Sean Wight there....

Exactly what I thought at the time, and commented to my wife. A replica of what we saw so often from Sean.

There is something about Ricky that is very collected .This guy could be anything .

Cant see any fault in his game .Set shots aren't too bad .

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
