As long as I get one opportunity to see Jack Watts standing up on the last Saturday in September holding the cup in a MFC jumper, Nik Nat can win 100 brownlow medals for all I care.

Totally agree!!! The Brownlow is an over rated award now anyway...CUPS are still CUPS.

When Watts has more strength to use in marking contests he will be very potent up forward.

I would like to highlight the assist he gave to Petterd today. The important thing to note is that Watts didn't give the quick dishoff that would have put Petterd under pressure from the defence. Instead, he took the ball and ran a few steps towards the boundary, drawing both men with him, then shot the handpass to Petterd for an easy, no pressure shot on goal. It's these little details that tell us just how well he thinks the game. I loved that little passage.

Absolutely - that was excellent.

That is the great benefit of having a basketball back ground. Penddles is the same, a great ability of reading what's going on around them.

Jack will be a great player for our club!

Good call. Drawing players or running at the defenders to draw them to you prior to the dish off to create space for a teammate is a great move. Some decent nous. Jack's teammates have to equally be awake to it too.

Can't see NicNat doing that anytime soon. The most satisfying thing for me is the fact that Watts has obviously eclipsed Natanui in development right now, and is clearly going to be a great player. Stick that up ya arses media critics!!!

Not yet. This is just warm up stuff for when he regularly grabs games by the scruff of the neck next year and beyond.

this ^^^^^^^

Hes on the verge...and menacing.. Those that THINK this was the game will get all squishy when the real one comes along :)

Just building up a head of steam ;)

btw...what happened to all the doubters and knockers.......hello !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope NikNat is the most brilliant ruckman of his generation and he has approximately 4 bad games a year - all against us including the grand final.

I have so little interest in comparing him to Jack Watts - I only have interest in seeing Watts continue to develop like he is doing.

Depends on how you define 'generation', cos Kreuzer is a year earlier and look at him go, force unto himself

It was a statement thats for sure, he was everywhere today and was B.O.G. pretty much, will give him a ton of confidence that's for sure.

Although not playing the true position, i liked the way he semed to be in everything and imposed himself into contests clsoe-in, feeding out the ball, but importamntly continued contesting all day and all over the ground.

I would now say we NEED him and would be dissappointed if he was forced out say through injury.

I am expecting a big pump up of Jack on Footy Classifieds tonight by G. Lyon. - maybe with a little bit of early days yet but maybe its all working out after all.

Watching the Herald Sun video "Mike & Robbo", they discussed the comparison between Watts vs Hurley and Robbo said that Watts played another complete game and has developed over the last 10 weeks.

And then even went as far as to say that although he's seen NikNat play a few great games, right now he'd take Watts.

Vindication for Melbourne!!!

I'm really starting to get some man love for this lad, i really think he's going to be something special. 200 games + for me. i just hate that all the talk is on that GWS player Scully and not about how Watts is going, he's starting to turn afew heads now though.

The bedazzled youngster is turning into quite the capable man , with a little bit of mongrel.

He now well and truly believes he not only is capable of being out there but that he 'belongs"

He's trusting in himself. Self belief accounts for so much in life and especially in a game where much is played between the ears.

Hes probably still shy a good 5 kg but more muscle will come in time, stronger core strength will develop and he'll be quite the complete player.

Hes not quite there but when he is hes going to take teams on and rip them apart..

Some where along the line hes going to rebuff some idiots' attention by ploughing them into the turf with a classic" dont argue " , get out of my way !! Thats the day he wil have truly arrived ;)

Well done Jack :)

Jack Watts is showing all the required attributes of a future leader of the Dees. It's not just the skills and football know-how that we can see developing week by week, but his communication with his team mates, the way he urges them on, his second, third, fourth etc efforts... his never give up attitude. It's inspiring and I love it!

I agree, it was great how he timed the handball and drew the two defenders to him. Sign of class.

He's the type of player I go to the footy to watch. Smart, confident in his own ability and fast becoming a player that will be able to turn a game on its head.

No doubt a future all Australian and B&F winner.

Shouldn’t care what the naysayers say…. But dam it feels good the stick up em!!

What I enjoyed most of all, as there was a lot to like Sunday and for the season to date, was the way he used his body in marking contest when we were kicking to the city end (think during 3rd term). He is developing into the frame and learning how to use said frame against men.

What I'm enjoying about Jack, aside from his improved form is the [censored] eating grin he wears when we are winning. Classic as he walked the boundary in the last against Freo, big smile on his dial.

I find the fact that people are waiting for a 'breakout' game strange.

Why does he need to have a breakout game? Why can't he just continue to improve at the rate he is going at the moment.

If he shows gradual improvement like he has soon he will be creeping up to 4 and 5 goal games soon enough.

Jack Watts just might have a brilliant day out against that Richmond backline, which is there weakest link.

Let's just hope the MFC midfield can deliver the ball too him lace out.

Big Game for VC Beamer this one....Real Big one.

VC Beamer has a real ring to it....i like it B)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
