It's all about the next few weeks -tonight is not enough

I am a long time reader and first time poster, so sorry if starting a new thread breaks with protocol. I respect the opinions of demon land members so please excuse any break with protocol.

I was at the Carlton game last week and the game tonight. I am ecstatic with the improvement this week over last in attitude, intensity, creativity, and defensive awareness. We turned up to play, which was awesome. however it was all too predictable, and over recent times we have been able to find a new level when the presure is on.

tonight's llevel of intensity and concentration needs to become the norm now. For tonight to mean anything, we need to see the intensity maintained in a likely loss against the pies next week, and maintained for an important win against the Dockers the following week. Tonight's effort means nothing if we are "valiant" in massive defeat next week, and insipid against Freo the week after. Consistency of this effort is what makes a team, and builds confidence in the coaching panel. Passion on the field at all times is the key! Tonight was a great game, and special mentions go to Frawley and Rivers (rock solid in defence), Trengove, Gysberts, Bemer, Scully in the midfield (fearless and creative/confident), and Green and Watts up front. The kind of football we have known you can produce, now you should own this standard going forward.

GREAT signs tonight but like the Adelaide game, it only matters if they are maintained. Challenge is to build on tonight in the coming weeks, and I BELIEVE WE HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO DO THIS. Take confidence from tonight's game, remember the effort it takes to achieve this win. Strive for the feeling of a tight fought win against a highly rated opponent. You have the skills and the strength. Just KNOW IT!!

Thats true but what a difference Jordie,TS and JT mean to us. They just straighten us up a bit. Honourable mentions to Strauss, Howe & Gawn also. It was a great night to be there and I hope we get a bumper crowd for Jimmy and the boys on Queens Birthday.

yep there'll be a massive crowd - need to keep THAT TEAM on the park and really apart from Jamar & grimes & davey (as a forward) we shouldn't touch it. next week will save bailey if we win. we are a good team but it shouldn't take a hiding from the press to generate that sort of performance. NOW IS THE TIME DB the team has to step up or we'll have Paul Roos as our coach next year! I would rather us win with DB but it's up to the players, the coach , Jimmy, the coaching staff, and the supporters! tonight the bombers crowd helped them when they thought they had a sniff - we all need to be there to help the club & become a force again.

Welcome to Demonland mate, and great first post. Can't get overhyped with one win an cruise through to QB. We're going to need to fight a lot harder to beat Collingwood.

I couldnt agree with you more

From my two bobs worth

We need to be competitive YES

We need to be physical, but not stupid! YES

We need a gameplan that works (no stacking the back line) YES

We need skills to show through YES

We need accountability from all Players and the Coach YES

Now all they need to do is back it up win or lose applying all of the above again

And yes Injuries certainly hurt us as was shown with the return of Scully and also Trengrove from suspension

These two boys are UNREAL, but every other player also stood to be counted and as far as Benel is concerned, one of the best if not the best game I have seen him play to

date.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
