WTF was that from Newton? Didn't even appear to try and contest with Gwilt. Grrrr

Copping a bake from G.Lyon & D.Frawley. Never had any time for Juice. Doesn't work hard enough & has never been good enough. Scraping the bottom of the barrel at the moment. Surely we'd be better off playing Cook or even Howe.

totally agree with you. even if newton somehow bags a couple of goals he is not the future.

I have a bad feeling today- all StKilda's out of form players dominating: Roo, Monty, Goddard, Milne, Gwilt, Gilbert...

Why do we always play teams into form

Jetta good pass to Green. Great mark and goal.

Good news is G.Lyon is pumping up Watts tires. Best game in the red n blue 13 disposals at 85% efficiency.

Evans 14 disposals on debut.

Evans and Watts - great great great.

The Tapscott injury and sub is gonna hurt - Bate on for Newton would've been absolutely perfect...

Newton is the most pathetic, weak excuse of a footballer I have ever seen. We'd be better off with 17 men.

Yep. my fave player juice misses a sitter from 4 metres out with no pressure...

then straight down the end for another saints goal.

Correct me if I'm wrong (although I have thought this before), but surely juice will never play for MFC again.

Jetta can tackle. He's a machine today.

Fwd clearancew by the Dees to Gysberts, GOAL!!!!!!!!!

Bring in Howe instead of Newton.

Would love to see some youthful enthusiasm in the forward line. He's 20 years old so isn't a teenager should be able to impact early on

Newton has been [censored] for 7 years, never played a full good game

How the hell are we still in this!!

Newton - no way, takes us back 3 years all by himself. Davey ... sad to see.

McKenzie underdone, others having a crack. At least ...

Christ I hate channel 10s coverage. That bloody Hudson is a TOOL. Nice to see the boys light up after the hooter. Get a bit of fire in their bellies.

On another note, my feelings for Jack Watts are quickly developing to love. He has been fantastic so far. Poised, and really insightful, involved in so much that was good about that first half.

during that second quarter we went inside 50 a decent 17 times for only 2 goals

says something about our forward line

Aaron Davey pulls out of another contest and costs us a goal. He's a cat.

He IS cat.

... or our delivery to the forward line.

Davey needs a game for casey to snap his mind into gear, but because of injuries it is hard to see it happen.

Could be a positive move though for the long term.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
