you win some & you lose some & you "Richmond Tigers" some... Only if they had hindsight..

Idon't think you can lose out of picking either Martin or Scully. they'll be talking about these 2 for some time to come.

But I'm happy we got my favourite, Trengove. This kids great, and it's hard to realise he's still, 'just a boy'.

So Scully is injured. He had a prostaglandin infusion for bone bruising (hot spot) in his patella. This will speed up his return, and about 4-6 weeks is probably right. Sounds like the club want to get him back on the park as quickly as they can (otherwise, why use the infusion approach?).

So does this mean he is or isn't going to GWS??? NEITHER. I think we need to call Fox Mulder - he knows how to work with Scully on consipracy theories. Injury and him leaving are mutually exclusive topics, folks. Can we somehow get over this??

How about: signs contract, gets us to a Grand Final, Takes a mark 5 meters out as the siren goes with us down by 5pts and is abducted by aliens before he can take the kick.

That would be annoying too.

Nah - about to take the kick when he is infused with the spirit of Rhino Richards ( the player not the poster) has a brain fade and plays on - game over.

That would be annoying.

or misses from 65 metres out on the boundary by shaving the inside of the post prompting at least 100 demonlanders to crucify him and say - " I told you he couldnt kick - we should have taken Dustin Martin"

That would be realllyyy annoying.

I'm pretty confident Scully will be staying put.

A hundred or so 'Demon diehards' went to the open training session at the Gabba on Saturday afternoon. It was an excellent initiave by the Club, with both Chris Connolly and Bails taking time to chat and take questions from those in attendance, and all the players being available at the end for autographs, photos and a chat.

Somebody in the 'audience' asked CC the inevitable question about Tom Scully and the continuing GWS rumours, and Chris responded that Melbourne would not be able to compete with GWS on financial terms (which, of course, we all knew). But Chris added a couple of points which I hadn't heard before, and I thought were worth sharing. The first was that Gary Lyon is personally mentoring Tom this year; and the second was that Melbourne are, or are looking to (not sure which) providing some sort of educational support / assistance to Tom and / or his family. Having heard previously that Tom has very strong ties with his family, I thought that the latter point was particularly significant.

Of course, another point that Chris made was that he hoped that close mateship at a Club with a seemingly rosy playing future would be a strong influence in Tom deciding to re-sign with the Dees.

Hopefully the kick would go to the nearest player as the umpires adjudicates that he is merely unable to take the kick due to an injury....

heard a guy at uni tell people that he walks scullys dog with his dog, and that the dog reckons he's staying. guess thats good news

At least get your story straight - the dog ate Scully's homework. The dog pooped out the homework and the homework was a rather soiled piece of paper - Bails had kept Scully in after school and had made him write out lines - 100 times - I will not sign with GWS, I will not sign with GWS....That one piece of poop paper with lines on it in my mind is proof guaranteed that he aint going anywhere.

That is the best the MFC can do. Regardless of $$$ GWS will be cold colourless and a quiet place for many years.

The MFC on the other hand.....

Thanks for sharing that Deeoldfart. Hope you enjoyed the game.

Of course I did HT. And I promise you, Bail's post match comments about the trying playing conditions were spot on. Being from Canberra, I found the the 80%+ humidity very demanding, and I really felt for our boys out there.

Judd's auntie told me to my face that he (CJ) was going to Collingwood.

Point being, everyone's sources are wrong so stop posting crap!

Not everyone's source; you should have talked to his grandmother. That's where I get the good oil.

Like a couple of other posters here, I hope you kept the fluids up. :P

Why are posters so intent on sticking the boot into Scully?

No one to my mind can make a serious case as to whether he is staying or going.

The guy is also in our top 5 to 8 players and our best chance since Robbie F to be a top 10 player in the league.

The kid is a gun...If every player on our list had a 12 week injury due to a crazy work ethic once in their career (let's prey its this once) than the MFC would be a better team for it, there are certainly questions surrounding the work ethic of the list as whole.

Put it in perspective, if this really is an 'overwork' injury than I can live with that. It's just a learning experience on the path from elite u18 football to elite AFL footballer.

Hope beyond hope he is a Demon for life...the club will certainly be better by an order of magnitude if he is.

also heard from someone claiming to be in the know that he is gone. I think this 'mystery' injury is dodgy as

wow Scully must have planned this straight from draft day... I recall him having an injured knee during draft period... I guess you friend in the know is your right hand.

I heard Peter Larkins talking about the injury to MMM after Garry Lyon got a bit shirty for being fed misinformation by our club.

Fact was, the club didn't misinform Lyon. From Doc Larkin:

"Scully has bruising of the bone in the knee joint. At first they were worried it was a stress fracture. Scans showed it wasn't a stress fracture, but that the surface of the bone had oedema (swelling) - which is pretty much a bone's version of being bruised. Buoyed by this information, the club decided to play it safe and give him a month off, lest it actually become a stress fracture. Unfortunately, despite avoiding that situation, the actual pain returned almost immediately when he resumed training. More scans - still no stress fracture. Plan: wait for pain to disappear and then try training again".

Hence - "he'll be out for 4 weeks", then:"sorry another 5 weeks".

No misinformation, GWS schemes, aliens, or secret season-ending injury.

Just bad luck.

Until we hear otherwise - oh damn, now I'm doing it! ;)

Addend: Larkins also said the club was having trouble holding him back at training, which made the situation more difficult to manage.

At least we've learnt after the Garland debacle.

I don't think he's going heard from a good mate of Jake Batchleors who is crazy Melbourne supporter. Jake said that he is too family orientated and doubt he would leave, not sure just highly doubt it.

Anyway he should just ask Ablett how he feels about the move and the fact of not getting a brownlow vote for the next 3 years... You say who cares. I say he does, I look at Ablett and I just don't think he is enjoying it. More pressure in him now then when he was in a one town team..
