That metaphor is around the wrong way.

If you aim for the stars and get to the moon then, yay, you have got to the moon.

But you are still going to have the idiots in the back saying 'we didn't make it to ONE star, and it's all Bailey's fault!'

The real quote is "Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star." by W. Clement Stone (though some dispute this origin)

FWIW he also said:

To be happy, make other people happy.

Be careful the friends you choose for you will become like them.

Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.

If a team wins every game by 1 point, then they will win the Premiership every year. Therefore, a win is always enough.

A one point win against Brisbane is equal to about a six goal or more loss against any other team.

Except for the fact that if we win against Brisbane, it's because we're playing Brisbane and not any other team.

Brisbane have played one bad game this year and two good ones.

They got the jump on us today, but we responded.

Great win, and definitely... enough.

Indeed. Personally I hate the idea of scaling a win (or a loss) based on who the opposition was. It just doesn't make any sense.

so how do you read the Filth Games last year Clint??

Each game and opponent is different.

Most of it is above the shoulders.

I am happy we managed to fight it out.

This is gold - literally three minutes ago I was thinking to myself that there's two very distinct groups on Demonland at the moment - one that thinks the other is accepting mediocrity, and the other thinks the first doesn't understand what's going on. Thanks for proving me right to myself :P

Hummh, g45reat insight Nash, again,,,

Yep totally, aim for that (blue Moon), if you miss, you will probably hit something, maybe a 'Star', but It May, take a 100 miliion light years getting there. ;)

A win is enough for me....we had one player on the Bench in the last Quarter.

4 points is 4 points.

WYL, it looked like we went into the game, not expecting any reistance.

A very 'soft' first Qtr and a bit. Worrying signs by some. They're gertting games too easily.

Bring back Ricky Bobby for the Coast.

Rubbish.

Would you equate a win over the Gold Coast with a win over the Pies?

I am not making any excuses, our first Quarter was putrid. But give the Bears some credit, they were pumped to go from the first bounce.

I was just as pleased that we came back and held on.

2005 or 2006 we played carlton twice and lost when they were rubbish. Cost us dearly in the finals.

We are perceived as soft. And until these boys get experience together we are vulnerable to most teams.

But yes we need pressure from the Casey side for selections for sure.

Absolutely bad call (accepting mediocrity call). We played bad footy and were outplayed for more than half the game against a team who will get beaten by bigger margins most weeks. The scoreboard for one game only means so much in the bigger picture of winning a premiership if you arent playing good football and making progress in the areas required to beat the good teams.

Would a 10 point win against the Gold Coast next week be satisfactory because we get the 4 points? Absolutely not.

The worst thing about the game was that in the last quarter we gave them every chance to pinch the game back from us. Can't shake up that comfort zone mentality that afflicts us when we play equal peer or lesser teams.

We didn't play well and we won. That seems to be an improvement from a couple of years back, when we could play alright - against average opponents - and still lose.

Rubbish.

Would you equate a win over the Gold Coast with a win over the Pies?

That's the example I thought of.

I noticed someone said they were flat after the win; so was I. I don't think I would have been flat after beating the Pies by a couple of goals.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
