Tappy probably not for rising star. A lot of the first years had great games - maybe behind Curnow and Beamys was meant to be pretty good last night to.

But will definatly figure into the thinking for the end of the year =)

great game...will he get a rising star nod?

Unless a North or West Coast youngster really burns it up, I can't see him not getting it.

He has won me several close Supercoach match-ups with that display!

Reasonable debut. Great attacking effort but his opponent ran off him all day. Good signs but not as a backman.

Fair call in regards to his opponents, he did lose him a couple of times but was lucky not get punished for.

But that will come with greater awareness.

Definately a solid first up performance, and certainly looked more confident and capable than strauss did in his first few games. How good was his Ben Graham style kick in almost to the centre square! You can see why the club wants him in the side to be able to break the lines.

One thing to add, has anyone seen the replay of Tapscott's hit on Shaw late in the 4th in front of the MCC Reserve? From what I saw from the replay of the screen at the ground it looked like he might come under scrutiny from the match review panel.

Either way, was great to see him back his strength a couple of times in the game.

Perfectly timed. Nothing to worry about.

Agree, nothing to worry about. Was not high, wasn't late, just a good tough contest. Shaw was just unlucky he was running straight towards a brick wall.

Well that seals it I'm over hunch's anyway. I'm on the Tapscott bandwagon too, and he's a nice guy!

Well what have you got to say NOW l guess you are still trying to pick your self up just like shaw you tweet.

like most u have to give sh#t to any one who has a comment to make you dont like

Metres away from it - looked incredible! Just knocked him flat and went straight on playing. Never expect that from a first gamer but then again Tappy's no normal first gamer.

That was a great First up game for the Tapscott.

He took the pressure and was valuable to the team, that long pass in the back line, that was stolen was not his fault!!!

Yeh Maric stood still under that like an U8s Auskicker

First time I've seen him play, and that was a cracking first game...... tough, courageous and a beautiful kick!

Great start Tappy!

He deserves a Rising Star nod, but Dyson Heppell had a good game, as did Shaun McKernan and Mitch Duncan. Ed Curnow's also a couple of months too old.

He should get it solely for the Rhyce Shaw bump.

I'm not sure we were watching the same player. Granted it was his first game, but this guy will not be playing for the Demons next week! His defensive game is in need of a lot of work. Thats not to say he wont be a great player. But honestly, his defensive work was terrible. Beaten more often than not whenever the ball came near him.

Nice article on Trenners and Tank here...

Yeah, nice article. I liked the quote from Trengove regarding his impression when he saw Tapscott, who I might call Bullet. He kicks it like a bullet and when he hits you you're down like you were hit by a...

What....the.... oh heaven help us.

It does not matter how good a kid plays on debut, you can always trust one supporter to stick the boot in and nitpick.

IT WAS HIS FIRST GAME! FFS!

Correct...we definitely were not watching the same player! Was his debut FFS and he did a lot of inspirational things for his team.

How much would you like to bet he will not play next week ?? (unless injured)

My favorite moment of the match.

Shaw took an age to surface and when he did he was a very ginger 80 year old, meanwhile Tappy was off raring to get the ball.

Fair go Mate.

Not bad for a debut....FFS

I agree, Bullet's a good nickname.

Stick the boot in? Settle down princess.

This is AFL senior football. I note that it was his first game, and i dont expect him to go out there and tear a game apart. I never said that he didnt offer anything to the team today. But it might be a great idea if you look at the game again - so many times today his lack of defensive skill cost us dearly. Im all for the development of our players, but we play to win.

Loved Tappy's game. He's just a little brick-sh*thouse isnt he? He's almost like a mini version of Frawley. Couldn't believe the size and 'thickness' of his torso and shoulders.

If you didn't know he was on debut, you'd easily have mistaken him for a 100-gamer. Doesn't have your average 19 year old body, and is so clean and composed with the footy. Great debut, and another gun youngster to add to the collection.

Good debut today for Tapscott.

If he keeps this up he will make a fool of some of the critics and hunch merchants around here.

Like all first year players he is still learning the caper and I look forward to his improvement this year.

I agree, from the stats a great effort. For a first game, it was good too.

BUT as i've stated, he cost us so many times in defence.

He has every chance of becoming a great footballer for the club, this i do not doubt.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
