Trengove is a quality individual and at least the equal of Scully in terms of men you want around a footy club. I was at demons training at AAMI on Thursday prior to NAB cup and I overheard media from several networks praising Trengove as a player and person. After training I experienced his humility first hand as he stopped and chatted with my 6 year old son on his way of the ground.

Everything the kid says seems genuine and real.

Ask yourself this- if we took Trengove with pick 1, and Scully pick 2, would he be under the radar?

I started this thread because Trengove appears to have an unassuming manner, but also an unassuming public profile. It doesn't seem that other teams plan how to play him, whereas I reckon they plan for Davey, Green, Jurrah and Frawley. Maybe other Dees players haven't yet earned closer scrutiny adn study from other teams.

Some players have natural grunt - Jones, McKenzie, Bail

Some players look like duds early on but grow slowly into AFL standard footballers. Jamar, Watts, Garland

Others have a sense of balance and poise from day 1, and these players are usually taken note of from the first. Trengove is one of these players with natural poise and balance yet doesn't seem to have drawn the targeted plans of other teams.

However, if he plays in the NAB cup round 2 game with the skill and execution he showed against Port, the fovus of other teams radar may switch very quickly.

Ask yourself this- if we took Trengove with pick 1, and Scully pick 2, would he be under the radar?

I see him as a bit like Bartel or Goddard - so valuable to a side, because they can go and play anywhere and not only fill that position, but excel.

versatility has been Bailey's mantra all along. The likes of Watts and Morton will play over the shop too and we will be a very challenging matchup overall

i really think the best of trengove is still to come. he is a couple more years off.

he faded out at the end of last season. i think he just got to sore from the workload. (sellwood had ablett and bartel etc..)

he will get a lot more attention this year and If we play final this season it will be a big workload for him.

he could be a 40 game player by the end of this season.

from what i've read about trengove he's a smart boy...studying physio at uni. melb uni i think.

Massive Trengove fan, but for someone who is quite quick he looks slow.

Really needs to work on his first few steps when he has the ball to break away.

was superb did hear i twas his highest possession game today not that possessions mean everything but, add his tackling marking and a couple of goals yeah probably his best game to date? As others have said he just makes things happen

Definitely the most 'çomplete' game he has played for the club. He was prolific and clean with almost everything he did. Okay, it wasn't against the best but it should give him a lot confidence going forward that he can be one of the club's top 3 or 4 players on a consistent basis.

Thought Roh Bail worked really hard as well...he is emerging with those other midfielders.

3 times i think. Two of them came within 60 seconds of eachother... if 2 out of 3 of those went in it would've lifted him to a EXCELLENT game. Greeny kicked 2.4 with 2 out on the full as well.

Could you get a more unassuming profile than Scully??

If he wasn't no 1 you wouldn't hear a world about him (other than for his freakish football skills)

You wont hear his name in media circles ect....which i dont particularly care about, is good if he can fly under neath the radar

I've said it a million times... he and Frawley are the two players I have ZERO worry about on the list.

He is as polished a player as I've seen at the club. Every time he gets it, he does good things. Born leader. Our own Hayes/Bartel, but better kick.

He is going to be a very very special player. Just oozes class, footy smarts and great disposal. I just cant stop smiling when i watch him play...... he is the future of our club no doubt.

Trengove will be very good but the one things that is holding him back is his acceleration. He is quite quick when up and running but over those crucial first two or three metres he gets caught and struggles to break away.

Gosh. We've turned over nearly 100% of our list in the last 3-4 years and brought in the likes of Trengove. I thought that's what we've been doing.
