Mahomes and Kelce for the win.
Flowers killed the comeback with the taunting then having the ball knocked out of his hand at the 1 yard line.

Lions might rue not settling for a FG on 4th and 2 to make it 27-10. A potential 3 score game has turned into 1 now.

Now a Lions fumble, game has flipped big time

Congrats 9ers fans…good luck against the Chiefs.

Massive luck in a few instances got the niners going and the way cashed in. Detroit fell apart in the end.
The Reynolds drop wide open was pretty much the end.

Chiefs will on form win back to back.

Recorded both games but followed the games on gamecast

Looks like the Lions imploded or was it just the 49ers stepping up at crunch time?

And the Ravens just couldn't score TD's despite being at or near the redzone a lot of the times.  Couldn't get it done?

Niners got what should have been an interception that turned into a 53y gain, a one handed catch across the middle that was epic but also such a bad option/attempt.
Goff slightly missed Reynolds on a fourth down that really he prob should catch and Reynolds also missed a sitter on 3rd down, he just flat dropped it with no pressure.

Purdy suddenly became Lamar and made great plays with his legs.
Lions should have been able to hold on/win that game but their second half was as bad as the niners got good, but either will be up against it in the SB.
What made the niners great through the year is not working at the moment.

Great fightback. 24-7 down at half time but didn't give in, there was no way we could stop their run especially on the outside.

We were just flat out poor in the first half. Already mentioned defending the run but completely unable to get any pressure on Goff as well. I thought the Lions were outstanding in the way they approached this game and really exploited our weakness.

Some massive slices of luck helped get us going, the tipped ball Jennings catch and the Aiuik fluke. You need these rubs sometimes and if Purdy doesn't air it out there it doesn't happen. Then Dan Campbell's aggressive approach on 4th down. While it may have been wise to kick the FGs you have to remember its this approach that got the Lions to where they are. They weren't totally void of fortune themselves when Moody missed the field goal from 48 or Purdy couldn't get it to a wide open Jennings to start the 2nd half but that's football, take what they give you.

The bright lights kicked in and all of a sudden Gibbs fumble and the 2 Reynolds drops, the pressure was on and Detroit seemed to wince in the moment. Once they lost the lead and had to rely on pass to get it back the momentum had well and truly shifted. They will be better for it, congratulations to Detroit for getting this far.

Arguments could be made we weren't the best team on the night but I think we still deserved to win. Not thinking about the SB just yet happy to enjoy being NFC champs for the moment. Any picks for who's going to win would be extremely premature at this stage but the Chiefs have done it and know what is expected.

For the time being, go Niners!

Chiefs pass rusher Charles Omenihu tore his ACL yesterday. 7 sacks this season and was massive against the Ravens.

Massive loss, means the pass rush on Purdy won’t be as good, they were great at creating pressure with only the front 4.

Vegas has set the SB as a virtual pick-em

49ers are at -1.5 which is close enough to a point after

I was reckoning -3.0 KC but I'm 4.5 points out

Very good player and he'll be sorely missed. Tragic for him.

Still a hell of a defense though.

I honestly think both offences should beat the opponents D, it will possibly come to special teams/turn overs. I think both teams score 24+

Yeah I think there will be points scored as well. Stops and turnovers will be worth their weight in gold.

It's a horrible thing to think about for me but it's easy to see it coming down to a 2 min drill where #15 makes the big plays and gets them over the line. Can't win if you don't buy a ticket though.

Tbh if it’s 2 mins and you have the ball you have nearly as much chance as they do.

(I feel dirty writing that and will go for a bath full of sanitizer 😁)

Last time I had a bet on scores being level at the half and chiefs winning. Might do the same bet again this year.

Except with Niners winning? 🤞

Tips Gentleman (and margin)

5 points for the win & 5 points for the correct margin bracket (1-6, 7-13 or 13+)

San Francisco are -1.5 favs over KC so that's close enough to call it a pick-em

Here's the leaderboard so good luck!

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
