Could do with a lot less niners fans too! 😂

Well, from memory, early contributors to this thread (45HG, WJ & QueenC) are all 49ers fans too haha

Kupp on IR so first four games out. So… 2024/5… when does that start?

Can't seem to shake off the hamstring concerns (Clayton Oliver - like)

And we're up to 400 pages ... who'd have thought?  Dappa would be mighty proud of that milestone

Sure to have @Gorgoroth seeing red!

That's great haha

And I especially like that you've kept up the J.E.T.S  typed out tradition (Gonzo will be well pleased)

Speaking of which, I'll be taking a keen interest in how Rodgers is faring this season

So in the NFL, are fans allowed to have a 2nd team to support located in another conference?

I remember not minding at all when Favre played for the J.E.T.S (texting scandal and all) but when he went to the Vikings, I still wanted him to do well (kinda/sorta) but not for Minnesota!

Would have been like Gawn switching to a team like Essendon or Collingwood

I've got a mate who supports the Steelers so I've always had a soft spot for Pittsburgh

I don't know about the other conference but I have a soft spot for the Jags and Bengals, would like to see them do well.

Actually NFC wise Panthers are my team, played for a "Panthers" team in junior footy and like the colours, hopefully they've hit gold with their young QB. I also don't mind the Saints, New Orleans is one of the few US cities I actually would like to visit.

Wow!

The J.E.T.S!!

Agree on most of the rest but how do you see your Bears faring?  And the Niners?

Falcons winning their division would be a real turnaround

The AFC is going to be a bloodbath, there’s maybe 10 really good teams and the 3 stand outs from previous years (Bills, Bengals, Chiefs) might take a step back. I just like the Jets defense and play makers even if Rodgers isn’t great.

Probably got too clever in my nfc pick. Thought the SeaHawks defense would take a step forward and Geno could back up last year. Might be eagles, cowboys and niners still as the class of a weak conference.

Falcons nearly won the division last year didn’t they? Panthers with a rookie QB. Tampa with Baker. Saints going to the well again with an ageing team and Carr. All Ritter has to do is play point guard for a really good offensive play caller and surrounding talent and the Falcons will be right there if not winning the division.

The bears will be bad. Had a stack of camp injuries which ruined their ability to get continuity which they need with something like 11 new starters and new back ups. Defense should be better if they can stay healthy for a month but it’s a bad d line and they need that time together and some bad weather. O Line hasn’t had any practice time together and Fields just isn’t going to be an nfl qb unless he gets Ohio State like time to pick his throws and he’s still a mile off getting that. They got a reality check today.

"How 'bout them Cowboys!"

Saw the first half. Our defence was superb. Absolutely monstered the Giants O line. Jones was getting pummelled left and right. Came up with big play after big play. Good start but the opposition must be taken into account. The Giants were very poor.

Packers had their obligatory easy win v the Bears.

I think the fact the NFC South division is fairly weak opens it up for us. Rookie QB is always going to be a worry but the front office has turned the roster over massively & Arthur Smith bought he’s successful offensive game plan from Tennessee so will be interesting how they go!

Yeah watching the Dallas game on the NFL Network right now ... impressive opener.  McCarthy calling the plays again

Packers won well but the Bears were banged up according to DS.  Still, a win at Soldier Field is always to be savoured

The NFC North might be a tight race

Jordan Love had a good game too.  His numbers were Rodgers-like haha

Paku Nacua the new WR for the Rams went 10/119 on 15 targets and they were some tough catches and gains. Not bad for a first game in Seattle. Might have found our #2 to Kupp.

Atwell also stood up this game with 6/119 from 8 targets.
Staffords arm looked good, hope he stays healthy.

Yeah I'd like to see Atlanta back in the playoffs ... a good solid win to start things off

Ha ha!

And in my mind, falling 2 points behind feels catastrophic

I'll tell you one thing, JV7, I will never take 1 point for granted in this comp ... they are like hen's teeth!

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
