Never have I had to bite my tongue so much over one of our players.

And still I was a great critic of his!

Hospital handpasses, helicopter kicks to disadvantage, short steps when contact was imminent, choosing poor options, not standing up when he should have been one of the senior players showing the inexperienced kids the way, soft efforts...

He actually represented a lot of the things that I find unacceptable in a seasoned AFL player.

Whilst I'm glad he is gone, I cannot agree with this point of view.

He has left out of insecurity rather than arrogance.

And in my opinion his insecurity is well-founded.

Hawthorn in recent times have been closer to the premiership window, yet clearly lack a few players to keep them there.

Bruce can comfortably slot into the side and not be too concerned about competition for his spot.

The hawks have some super players, but I think lack some decent role-players and Bruce has always been a good one of these, as opposed to the superstar we all wanted him to be.

Now Bruce is caught in a bind of loyalty to his new club, mixed feelings about his departure and a desire to look like he has done an honourable thing.

The guy needs to build a few bridges and get over some stuff.

Yes we get very emotional but in reality it is just one employee deciding he has more opportunity at another company.

The way Macca and Bruce have left will certainly have a lasting effect on the present playing group.

Just watched the presser and could not help but think that Brucey and his rug will be right at home at the Hawks. Can swap rug maintenance tips with Guerra and Hale.

I am quite confident that our list is in much better shape than the Hawks. Bruce and Cheney both saw more opportunities for them at Hawthorn. The former a 31 year old fearing he would be pushed out of the team by more youthful talent and the later seeing too many players ahead of him and a spot in the best 22. Indicative for mine of a Hawthorn list that has some elite players but overall does not bat very deep.

I look forward to Brucey showing his normal lack of poise and errant disposal in the Hawks jumper in 2011.

I think he has seen the writing on the wall and departed in a timely fashion.

The only "ugly" aspects of his departure were the timing, his clumsy justification and the fact he won't be known as a career MFC player.

His time at MFC would have been up a lot sooner than I think it will at Hawthorn, barring injury.

The only question that'll be asked is why the hell it took us so long to wake up and get ruthless as a footy club, and it'll be asked among us loyal fans as our boys go up to collect their premiership medallions in 2014/15.

I liked the SEN interview and how Franc Leach called him on his claim that it was good to be at a new club because it renewed his enthusiasm, when he'd already been at Melb, a club brimming with eager talented youngsters and bound for finals in the very near future.

You seem peeved that I'm indifferent to cam going. He was offered the chance for a year at a time, with the club he started with. That to me is a two way street.

He chose to run to others. I'm glad. Now I can have a little fun, as I don't think, that as an AFL footballer, he was the most physically courageous & committed to the contact. As an athlete getting his body up, he was very good. He should have been a marathon runner.
