So Gawn and Jetta done for the season. Do we know if Jetta needs a shoulder reco? Or are they just giving him the rest of the year off to recover?

And what is going on with Gysberts? Anyone?

Great news about Grimes though. Hope he can play this week, be it for us or at Casey. If by some miracle we make finals, he has to be there!

At this stage of the season i can't see them bringing the Gys back.

Get the kid right for next year.

Likewise given Grimes' history i wouldn't be in to rushing him back. If he ain't right then put him off for the season so he is ready to go for the pre-season.

And Beamer to miss again. Sandilands must have the pointiest knees in the league.

Anyone know what the issue is with Gawn? Same knee?

Medial ligament I think

Great news about Grimes! Will any of the long term injuries affect anyones preseason or should most be set in the new year.

Grimes - test! Sensational.

Yep. Same knee, as reported in another thread.

HAWTHORN

Max Bailey (knee) - indefinite

i swear ive always seen him on the injury list for the last couple of years

Newtons back though hehe

MELBOURNE

Max Gawn (knee) season

Jack Grimes (hamstring) test Meesen hasn't played a game all season. If he's body isn't going to hold up he isn't worth keeping even

Jordan Gysberts (back) indefinite as a rookie.

Danny Hughes (ankle) test

Neville Jetta (shoulder) season

Stefan Martin (hip) season

John Meesen (foot) season

Brent Moloney (quad) 1 week

Ricky Petterd (shoulder) season

Jake Spencer (back) indefinite

saw him monday and said that it turned out just a dislocation which is like 2 weeks

MELBOURNE

Jack Grimes (hamstring) test

Surely not? I thought he was gone for the season :)

No chance he could come straight back in is there? Does the hammy again he's got six months to recover, no chance? Any chance :(

My best guess is it'll be Casey Seniors this week for Grimes and, depending how he pulls up afterwards, could be off to Adelaide the following week with the boys. :)

THAT will definitely see the end of Bail's season if all goes to plans for Grimes.

I heard someone say he got a knock to the knee.

Unless we play finals then I cant see Grimes playing AFL before the end of the season.

While he is "test", if he does not come up this week then this will be 6 weeks out and he will surely need at least 2 weeks to get some match fitness back.

cant see Grimes being risked by being rushed . A return to VFL and then a soid preseason prior to 2011 surely

either way...it's a good move by melbourne putting him down as ready for a test...makes the hawks plan for grimes

Yeah agree with this totally, but I would loveto see him back.

There are only 2 more Casey games before the finals so if he does not play this week it only leaves 22/8 for a game before

returning at AFL level.

IMO I think it is doubtful we will see him again in 2010.

And why rush him we are not in any danger of playing in this years GF.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
