I mentioned in the gameday thread that his efficiency was huge on the weekend. I was actually really surprised when I saw that. It's an area he has obviously worked really hard at. Even at the start of the year in the pre-season games he was missing easy passes under no pressure, so it's great that he's improving. If I never again see him miss a 30m pass across the face of goal I'll be a very happy man.

229 disposals, at 78.74% is 180 hitting targets, i personally dont think his decision making or his disposal can be that bad, and nor do i think i posted an unreasonable post.

This season Bartram has shown that he can hit a target and make fantastic decisions.

One-on-one against small forwards or running midfielders, Bartram is doing a great job. Quicker than Cheney, better tank, reads the play better and just as tough at the ball, if not tougher. I haven't seen Cheney kick any better than Bartram.

Agree maurie and well put. At present he is our best small defender and some of his contested efforts have been first class.

He doesn't just have substandard kicking skills, but Bartram is also a poor decision maker with the footy in hand.

This is testament to the standard he sets with the areas of he game he excels in, such that we can overlook his significant shortcomings for selection.

Up to last year that may have had merit but this year Bartram has been a definite improver in all facets. His kicking has improved greatly (while his legacy from his early years) means that every rare miskick becomes misplaced "I told you so". His decision making has also been good this year with few blemishes.

He is not the most skilful footballer but at present he is our best small defender and he stays and plays.

Very similar types - both very tough, durable, courageous with massive tanks and historically poor kicks. Bartram is definitely the superior player to Godfrey though - better in every aspect IMO.

I agree most of Bartram's disposals are now effective, unfortunately there are still enough occasional howlers (i.e. his several OOTF in the past two rounds) to keep the debate simmering. Given the present trajectory of his improvement it can be reasonably expected that he will eliminate this flaw in his game completely.

Below which standard, or 'whos' standard. obviously not the Football Departments or he would be back at Casey, that is what happened to Warnock.......we have had two great wins and Bartram has had two really good games, I watched him live on Saturday night and loved every second he put in, the past is the past can we to quote a rather unfortunate pollie 'move forward'.......
