beelzebub 23,392 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 BRISBANE Lions coach Michael Voss has compared Melbourne to Geelong and says the Demons will be the AFL's next "superpower". Voss wary of Demons Demons looking like Superpower Well there you have it...cant sneak under the radar any more....we've been sprung !!! Cant really argue with him here !! lol other than theres no focus on finals this year Form the focus, not finals -Jones still thanks for the accolades there Michael !!!
Guest Rojik of the Arctic Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Nice to dream about but you would think we would need at least one flag before anyone could make that call.
beelzebub 23,392 Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 Nice to dream about but you would think we would need at least one flag before anyone could make that call. Definitely....but when was the last time you ever heard someone speak using Melbourne...and Superpower in the same sentence ?? Look its all a little tongue in cheek , without taking it too seriously. Vossy undoubtedly trying to play a few mind games ahead of the weekend, but it isnt with some foundation...if only a little
Rhino Richards 1,467 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Any chance of Voss trying to inspire overconfidence??? We had a good win on Sunday and have won 6.5 games out of 17 and we are looking like a superpower. The carriage has gone well before the horse here. Voss will try anything.

Shivers its sounds like he wants to coach us - No thank you Mr Voss just stay where you are thanks.
Gorgoroth 13,220 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Yep, deflecting nicely Voss, put all the pressure on us to perform etc etc etc

He also referred to the previous game against the Lions. Said that our side collectively as a group tried to intimidate them that night. He is using the same sort of inspired choice words as Brad Scott did earlier in the year trying to find similarities in us being young sides on the up. he is just building it up, and if anything trying to get his boys up for a win, naturally.

Sure, but you know he's right.
e25 5 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 No doubt he is playing mind games and trying to make us get ahead of ourselves as well as geeing up his boys for the match, but he has effectively put the whole football fraternity on notice. To steal a line from Carlton: They Know We're Coming.
Deetective Sgt. Taggert 389 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Total fluff piece. Nothing more, nothing less
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I'm getting worried. 2 days in a row of the media pumping our tires = certain loss coming up
Red Sox 2 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Exactly. He also referred to the previous game against the Lions. Said that our side collectively as a group tried to intimidate them that night. Agreed. Although he is correct Even considering how bad Brisbane have been, a win for us in any fashion would be as important as our win against Sydney. Any away win would be another step forward, a good start like a couple of days ago is paramount.
old dee 24,084 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Lets not fall for this one. He is just trying to put the pressure on the Demons. He just wants his team to respond
beelzebub 23,392 Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 If youre all worried now.......what happens when we really are...pretty good !!! We're all so used to us being ...also rans... we need to learn a new creed...and to feel comfortable with it. We're Melbourne... and we're good
Deefolt 0 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I'm getting worried. 2 days in a row of the media pumping our tires = certain loss coming up You don't need to worry on the AFL Insider, only briefly talked about the Dees and mostly talked about Kangaroos. And Brad Scotts thoughts on things. The Dees mention was when the votes were tallied as well, so pretty small lol.
Rocknroll 1,010 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Win win statement by Voss. If they win he can say that the rolled the up and coming. If they lose he can say they are the new superpower and make a slide comment about priority picks. Puts the pressure on us. Every demon media engagement for the next week will start, "voss thinks you’re the next superpower blah blah blah" and our response "one game at a time" Smoke and mirrors to take the flame away from his ass and his terrible drafting choices. I hope Joel M smashes the bears this week. Coaching 101 straight from the Sheedy handbook
beelzebub 23,392 Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Or we can go out and smash them again by 50 ( or more points ) and say..yep...youre dead right !!
PNGeeDee 0 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Well, Tony Shaw said the same thing about a fortnight ago. Even if the statements are exagerated it's nice to know we're heading in the right direction. You'll never walk alone!! I mean...GO DEEZ!!
Disco Demons 92 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 if melbourne are going to be the next super power then we need to make the finals this year.
beelzebub 23,392 Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 if melbourne are going to be the next super power then we need to make the finals this year. Why? We need to be there on our terms noy jut a filler . We. Could only just make them and then you're out . Nothing achieved just look silly

Coaching 101 straight from the Sheedy handbook Best response would be to say ?Voss also thought trading away all his early draft picks in the last uncompromised draft would give him a shot at the premiership this year.... how's that opinion working out?" "We'll be our own judges thanks, and we've got a long ways to go before we can even think that far ahead."

Keyser Söze 0 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 gotta be in it to win it. the junior players would get a great lesson. But what on earth does that have to do with us being the next "superpower"? He didn't say we are, he said we will be.
dazzledavey36 56,399 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 we will become a powerhouse side once we start winning interstate games..! it starts this weekend!
