Melbourne should consider trading Cam Bruce to the Gold Coast Schoolies.

If we are going to lose a player, it makes sense we would trade someone coming to the end of a career (GC want experience), is coming out of contract (Bruce is on a juicy wedge), and who carries some value (more since the AFL have upped the compensation).

The main question: would GC want him?

In order to trade, barter negotiate etc you must have something worth exchanging. There is nothing in Bruce that an emerging club could benefit from. Hes soon to be 31 !! He'll be lucky enough to see out his time in the red and blue. There is ZILCH trade value in Cam.

Is he eligible for the veterans list next year, given he's been there since 2000? If so half of his contract can be paid through the veterans list. I guess whoever out of he or Green is paid more would be the one placed on it.

It is my believe he is a veteran now.

IF Brucey goes, what, if any, impact do you think this will have on Brad Green and his future. They are pretty tight these two. They started together and I always thought tehy would finish together. I am not suggesting for a moment taht Greeny would leave, but stuff like this does impact players. He will be 'left behind' so to speak and most of his vintage have either been moved on or retird/traded. Junior may or may not play on. Miller gone. Will be Brad and the kids!

Yep Cam is a veteran at the moment - replaced Robbo at the end of last year I think? And we have Green eligible at the end of the year, if McDonald or Bruce leave.

whats the point trading for unknown when we have a list of it...ie., gawn, blease, etc...

is melbourne going to have the salary cap in three years time to sign a super player when we actually need them or we going to hope for a barry hall type to come along?

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm.
