Its hard luck for any player to that and the whole game is lesser for it.

This injury will dent Carlton finals hopes.

However,on 3aw today pre match Walls, Shaw, Caro and Richo were giving Carlton the biggest bake ever for trading pick 11 (Gysberts) for McLean who they also rated as an ordinary footballer that looked good in a bottom side but not in a side hoping for finals. They were also critical of the Warnock decision and said that regardless of Kruzers injury they have to play him given they have spent so much on him.

Walls was venomious about how Carlton had given up Gysberts or pick 11 for McLean and questioned the wisdom of Swan, Ratten and others at Carlton.

Most felt that Carlton were struggling to achieve their 2010 goals set back in 2008. The injury to Kruezer only makes it worse and highlights the other list shortcomings.

Interesting on McLean, for the Blues to justify this they need to win a flag in the next 3 years as after this Brock may be cooked.

After this 3 yer period Gys will make him look silly.

I'm one of very few that would have actually preferred to keep mclean. i still would. Mclean is currently playing through a bit of an injury. We know he isn't at his best, but at the end of the day, his disposals and leadership will always be better than Gysberts.

McLean was drafted to our club in 2003, to help us in a Grand Final that was played in 2000. The game has moved on, Mclean hasn't, but perhaps you should.

Carlton supporters are fuming, which i love-The Cheats are done for this year. Kruezer was a massive part of their tilt.

Unless you know something about Gys that we all dont, he may very well develop into a very good leader. I would prefer a straight laced, introverted leader over a burn out producing, bar fight causing clown style leader. Leadership is not just about on field and on the track. Lead by example.

Spot on ox, I reckon from what we've seen Gys will be a 10 year player with us and I doubt McLean will be offered another contract at Carlton. He's just not quick enough in mind or body anymore, if in fact he ever was.

It was unfortunate but I reckon he probably extended his AFL career by a couple of years crossing to Carlton. Who would you drop for him out of our current squad of midfielders?

It was unfortunate but I reckon he probably extended his AFL career by a couple of years crossing to Carlton. Who would you drop for him out of our current squad of midfielders?

None. Pretty simple really, hey Robbie. Great move, up there with the TJ trade. To get pick 11 was a compete steal.

I am very sad to see Kreuzer go down. As much as I despise Carlton, he is great to watch. He's developing into a really good player and probably all-Australian in the next few years. About what you'd expect from the player two clubs were fighting over. It would of course be even better if he walked out on them and came over to us in the PSD, but that's not going to happen.

Best of luck to him on his recovery, and may he come to his senses and ditch Carlton for a decent side while he's young enough to enjoy it.

The original comments at the start of this thread indicate it was some form of gloating over Kruezer's ACL. If so, you are a fool.

I would not wish a knee on anyone in the AFL, MFC or otherwise. Were you cheering when the Ox went down, or the young kid Gawn had his done?

They had recast a new contract at MFC for him on a lower wage based on performance but where he stood as part of MFC's future. I am not sure there was room for Beamer, McLean and Jones in the one team. He did not like it and wanted out. As you pointed out MFC were quick to act and got pick 11 for McLean from Carlton.

Already the deal is a winner for MFC. An injury plagued middle rung midfielder in a bottom side and we got pick 11. The options were that we pay more than we wanted for player of middling importance to us or we could have let him go to the PSD.

What we do with it is the extra bonus. Gysberts to date seems a great use of the pick. And should get better. And with Scully and Trengove, the emergence of Bail and McKenzie and the improvement in Jamar and Beamer, I am struggling to see how we are missing McLean.

McLean may ulitimately pay dividends at Carlton. But he hasn't to date. And their trading of pick 11 for a ready to go midfielder is looking a bit sick. He is in their VFL side and the player most likely keeping Hadley is being pillaged in the press as being too slow.

1. Sacking Carroll

2. CJ walking out or getting the encouragement too

3. We did not bid too high for R. Warnock

4. Avoided ooverspending on Prismall.

5. Chasing Bradshaw.

6. Ball choosing to go to the Pies.

7. Bail and McKenzie from high picks or rookie

8. We did not run on sentiment in regard to retiring senior players

Pretty much agree with you rhino. In fact spot on with all 8 points. Mclean was just one of those blokes i loved and i wish him all the best at Carlton, i don't believe in slagging him off as he did give good service to the demons (injuries aside)- but i am rapt with what the footy department were able to do, especially considering that Brock was out of contract and could have gone for nothing via PSD- i think that is what really stings Carlton, not that they paid too much, but that they paid anything at all!!!!!

Point 7 of yours is also good. Mckenzie has shown his worth and i believe that Bail will be a good player once he gets over his injuries. There is something about him.....
