Personally I'd hold onto the pick, I'd contemplate trading for Rhys Stanley (can play ruck and forward), but I'm not a huge fan of trading for players, only draft picks.

This poll has been started in reference to Stuie's thread from yesterday.

Edit: Reference Stuie.

Some of those are maybe worth trading for, but definately not first round. Maybe for later picks, but none exite me enough fot a 1st round pick.

Wasn't Everitt available for free at the end of last year before the Dogs decided to keep him? Not sure.

I'd take Vickery for a 1st rounder for sure, but no way Richmond would let him go. He's yet to show much at senior level, but he's got an amazing amount of potential (there's that word again) being an elite junior and having great mobility for his size.

From that list i wouldn't mind a Stanley or Hampson, but a 1st round pick for those players is far too high a price.

I think we have to address the immediate weakness, which is our forward line.

Therefore I would trade for jack Anthony.

He's no better then green. Lead mark kick. Wasting his height.

Jackson Trengove looks a player. Depending on our draft pick, i might consider.

Vickery. Done and done.

Stanley. Same as Trengove. Might need to have a closer look to fully judge.

The rest are duds or youngsters who haven't played

jackson trengove is going to be a really good player.

john anthony could be what we need.

kepler bradleys recent form has been outstanding and could also slot into our top 22

having said that i wouldnt see us trading our first round draft pick

What's wrong with being a one-position player? How many positions do you want him to fill? He'd be brought into the side solely to add some size and strength to the forward line, so what else do you want from him? The obsession with versatility is already killing the development (and possibly careers) of several of our players. I'd rather have guys who are phenomenal in one position than fair to middling in all of them.

I'd trade pick 6 (we'll finish 15th) for Taylor Walker. I really like the look of this kid and he has star written all over him and I reckon he'd probably have more upside than any forward available in this years draft. I'd even throw in a SA boy like Rivers or a McNamara to get the trade over the line.

But the more goals Walker kicks, the more he becomes untouchable.

That being said, will Petterd and Jurrah make a huge difference to our fwd line crisis? We really need to add one or two forwards in the trade/draft period that will be walk up starts in round 1 2011.

There are many rumours areound at draft time; maybe Everitt was available, but he certainly wouldn't have come for free.

I would be considering the Swans' Jesse White... 196cm and 105kg, powerful hard at it forward with a good pair of hands (from what I have seen of him) and a good boot.

Today, not on the bench if he's getting thrashed there's nowhere to put him, he's a liability.

You can't have those players anymore in todays footy.

Your 2nd sentence does not address your first sentence. The reasons he does not get a game at the Pies are the reasons I would not trade for him.

What's wrong with being a one-position player? ... I'd rather have guys who are phenomenal in one position than fair to middling in all of them.

If they cant play that position then they are....

I'd rather have a player who was very good in one key strength and competent to good in others.

Are you selecting Dawes because he is phenomenal in one position? Hmmmm

Any chance the player is actually available??? And you reckon the Crows will be dribbling over 2 players that are not consistent AFL standard? Wow.

I would have thought the lesson with the young talls we have that whoever is drafted will take time to maek their presense felt.

For mine....Rhys Stanley I would certainly be open to.

I've heard plenty about Dangerfield wanting to come home, remember he is a Geelong boy and as much as I could care less about Geelong I would hope that they could end up with Dangerfield should Ablett decide to go. For the sake of every club there should be adequate compensation from GC17...anyway, that topics for another thread I guess!

Where St Kilda are currently placed (premiership clocks etc) we could possibly push for a 2nd rounder swap for him and a player perhaps....Rivers? One of the defenders? I have the opposite view of many here and actually like Riv but you have to give something to get it and IMO I really rate Stanley and I don't mind the look of this.....Rivers and 2nd Round Pick for Stanley and keeping the first round and getting another gem there would be a win I reckon! Pure speculation and food for thought.

Hawthorn need a ruckman too - take PJ hawks, please, please!!

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
