Predictions MELB V BRIS

Featured Replies

our dees take on the red hot lions this week. imo its going to be very difficult to get up with a win but what i would like to see mostly is a willigness to win the ball and compete as we have all season (minus rd 1). although if we do win, it could be seen as a MASSIVE finals push seeing as though our fixture is alot easier compared to other teams eg. port, eagles, north coming up and an easy run home

I rate BL as the top side in th AFL. If you ask for my honest prediction, i would say we will get smashed by atleast 10 goals. I hope i can i say i was wrong

i also believe they are 1 of the top sides but this is there first time playing in melbourne for 2010 and weve played at the g all season so far. home ground advantage maybe?

Demons can and will win by 15 points

Big Test for our Midfield this week, & we now have one- a really good one.

The game will be one from the middle, we must play well out of there to Starve the Bears 50 m arc.

I reckon our Boys can do it, but can they sustain it for 100+ minutes? I hope our Team is really looking forward to this challenge.

i hope the team are Really thinking "BRING THEM ON" Lets Beat a Top Side at our Ground.

Like the Collingwood Game we will know the answer in the first 5 minutes.

If the Team is switched on we can win-but we have to play our game. If the Bears Dictate we shall be Smashed.

Go Demons-Make Jimmy Proud of ya once again, & all of us supporters.

The MCG-Let's make our Home The House of Pain-Starting from this Saturday. B)

YEH! you're right mate and remember didnt we beat them at the mcg last year when they were regarded as a good team? we can do it

Lions are not as great as everyione seems to think.

Demons by 25, to signal our definite arrival.

The Lions will be hard to beat. But it's not impossible. If our team turns up to play and the Lions are a little off, it should be close.

Demons by 7 points.

Leuenberger had a good game against WBD with 21 hitouts (up against Hudson and Minson)supported by Brennan I guess which would have served their mid field well which is a mix of older talent Power and Black, peak of powers players like RISCHITELLI. Their defense in Drummond, McGuire, and Merrett is quality strong bodied and experienced. Their forward line is obviously strong Brennan, Brown Fevola but also emerging talent like Rockliff.

Very tough game for us would love to see us win but our forward line is weak, Jamar has a real test without any credible pinch hitter like Brennan. Our midfield will have to perform very well for us to be credible has has already been suggested.

Absolutely everything will have to go our way if we are to win, and that hardly ever happens.

I'm hoping for a close game with Brisbane getting on top of us in a short 10-15 minute burst, to win by about 24 points.

If we win I'd be shocked, thrilled and a little bit worried that I got a holiday booked in September huh.gifdemon_tongue.gif

I will be happy if we are in the game at half time.

Brisbane have been awesome so far this year and are simply in a completely different class to our boys.

Agree. But they're better than us. No question. That doesn't mean we can't win, but it means we're likely to have a portion of the game where their class just gets them 3 or 4 goals, and that might be the difference. Playing in Melbourne will help us.

Somehow, we will need to starve Fevola & Brown up forward by winning the centre however; Brown works his way upfield if the ball doesn't come down to him.

Unfortunately, they will be too good for us & we'll get beaten by 30 points.

................. If we win I'd be shocked, thrilled and a little bit worried that I got a holiday booked in September

Wow! I reckon we might just knock off a couple of better teams sometime this year (we came within a whisker against C'wood remember)and there's a very slim hope that it could even be Brisbane on Saturday night. However, I think your travel plans are fairly safe in 2010. You will need to be prudent in making bookings for 2011 onwards though.

Hi i wouldnt be making any plans in september for the next 10 years after this year.

Get all your holidays out of the way this year.

Lions by just under 5 goals. Sylvia with 4. Frawley to hold Brown goal-less by dragging him up the ground. But Fev kicks 6.

demons by 17points. B)

Pounce if Melbourne are paying at least $3.00 by the first siren!!!

I wonder if playing under lights will be a disadvantage for us. The lions have alot more experience in this department.

Our confidence is up and being at the G, we are a huge chance to win. I will be tipping them.

Whoever thinks the Lion's aren't a top four side is kidding themselves. They are the real deal and with those two up forward we gotta hope the gamblin' fella has a rough night, loses it (again) and big fella is kept relatively quiet, then we might have a chance! Also five games in a row at the G is a positive! Carn Dees!!

We can win if we can eliminate the silly little mistakes we make, usually after a very good passage of play. We need to learn to finish a lot better than we do, the game against Adelaide was a classic example it took us nearly all of the last quarter to put them away.

We move the ball very well at times but all of a sudden we seem to get stage fright and can't find someone to bight the bullet and score. Sometimes we will have 3 or 4 around the ball and they will all sit back and wait for someone to finish. We are good enough to beat them it's just a matter of whether the players believe in themselves enough to do it.

Sylvia looked great against the Tigers, a few close goals but after a broken jaw he looks like a man on a mission. He could be one of the key player to put teams away. I was very impressed with Sylvias game 1 for 2010.

To have any chance the Dee's need to play one-on-one football. We play very well under this structure. If we can have a forward structure at CHF and two deep leading players out of the goal square we will have a chance. I predict a 12 point win.

Petterd and Green to play deep with Bennell to crumb. CHF line will read Sylvia, Bate, Bail.

If we play loose the Lions will cut us to pieces. 10 goal lose if we play like this! Even without Big Browny!

I personally think we will take it right up to them!

I know we have beaten an underdone adelaide and a richmond, but the boys are playing with confidence and I think they are really excited for Saturday night.. They know the MCG like the back of their hand and will be itching to play under lights..

Massive test for a couple players:

Jamar - Can he ruck against 2 quality ruckman? Clark is very good and leuy is alrite too..

Frawley/Warnock - Can either one of these guys shut up a very dangerous Fevola? Fev will be loving the chance to be THE vocal point of the lions attack

Green - Has been playing well against some weaker sides, good to see if he keeps it up...

Jack and Tom - A good test against bigger, experienced bodies..

MacDonald - played really well last week, did some courageous things and should have a point to prove to Voss.

If these guys do as well as they should, we can take it right up to them.. winning is another thing, (Brissy are a top 4 side and there is reason why they are unbeaten) but I think we will come very close... Carn the dees!

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
