Players out of contract

I know that Miller and Jamar are out of contract at the end of this year and could get snatched by the Gold Coast but I would like to know every player that is out of contract by the end of this? Does anyone know every players contract deals or years on their contracts or which players come our of contract at the end of this year?

Jurrah is a guy we need to re sign before the seasons end. He is a guy that can fill seats, and the MFC needs to fill seats!!

Unlucky for Bruce to be out of contract. He is on the wrong side of 30. Hopefully Bruce can take a reduced salary and get another 2-3 year deal. If he wants top dollar still he may be left out in the cold.

I believe Dunn and possibly Bate are out of contract also. Bartram is also up after signing a one year deal to play this season.

It would be nice to retain many of the players mentioned in this thread, but the likelihood of the happening is bloody slim. Getting required players to sign during the year would be a big deal for the MFC. Having to negotiate 12+ new contracts at the seasons end is not going to be a great idea. Every club is going to be hitting the panic button and players could be moving homes like a game of musical chairs. The more we can take off the market, the less we are likely to lose in the great GC17 panic that all clubs will be facing.

Remember, GC17 may not target some of our kids, but if another club loses a required player to GC17 they will have no problems filling their new gap with one of our kids!

there was a small note at the back of the sport section of todays paper saying that Rivers and Frawley are on the GC list as they want tall defenders and MFC needs to sign them before seasons end

While it is an obvious concern when some of our better players are out of contract, I'm not losing too much sleep over who may or may not go at the end of the year. I'm sure the club will secure the players we need to, and it wont be that hard providing at seasons end, every one of our listed players can sit down and think "[censored], we have taken a massive step forward, and a flag may be within reach".

On the other hand though, we are still coming off back-to-back spoons. I'm sure there are a lot of players in the league who are on the radar of these clubs, and when we are struggling to have a player in the top 50 of the league, the amount of targeted players on our list would be minimal compared to other clubs. Just my opinion!

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
