A thought on the Richmond game

Here's a thought.... If we defeat Richmond (yes, yes I know... one week at a time and all that... but it is Richmond) by 41 points or more our percentage will be 100.

I would gladly accept the 4 premiership points, but it has been a very long time since our % has been 100 or more!

This is a danger game if ever there was one. All the good work could be well and truely undone if we lose this one.

I apologise for being negative but it doesn't bear thinking about if we get beaten - we have been through enough pain!

No i must admit my mind goes to that place as well, perhaps it's all the years following the Dees! Percentage isn't even factoring in my mind, i just want us to make sure we get the four points!

As someone else wrote in another post, Richmond would have pencilled this game in at the beginning of the season as one that they could win - just as we have.

Showers are predicted for Sunday. I fear the rain allot. We are not good down below.

:) Speak for yourself, we're doin' just fine. B)

For us to win by 41 points our defence would need to keep them to 4 goals. The forward line will struggle all year to kick big totals... at least until LJ, Sylvia & Wonna get on the park together.

I am just Cherry Ripe Down Below myself B)

To the Topic...Stop Talking about Percentage FFS i want the Guys to learn to win ok, that's all. 4 points, i do not give a stuff about percentage. We do not have a proper forward line yet.

Just Prey For a win please.

Christ I hope our players don't go in with the same mindset. Seconds from disaster.

This is one of the vary rare chances the tigers get to win a match, they will come out absolutely firing on sunday

I'm predicting a very close match here it will be under 5 goals as much as i hate to say it

We will smash them.

There is no danger we lose this game.

Yeah I know we aee all scarred from the last few years, but this game is done and dusted.

Demons will get home by 45.

it really hurts to think about the prospect of losing

i'm not hitting the boards all week if it happens, too much pain

Reading this article helped my nerves a bit....http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/92139/default.aspx

Horrible memories of Round 12 2007 are flooding my mind. 80-16 at half time wasn't it? Their first win of the year if I recall correctly, we'd just beaten the pies and the crows and greeny started talking about making finals.

Sunday is Richmond's Home Game. This is the one they would have circled & said "Right we are not going to lose" Last weekend's Fiasco might make those who play for them even more determined to beat us.

I just hope our players remember singing the song last sunday, how much they enjoyed it-& how hard they had to work to get it.

Maybe i am over reacting here but i have seen it so often, going back to the 70's. Fitzroy did it often!!

Stay Focused Demons-Don't Think-DO.

From what i have read and heard sounds like the "boys" know how hard they had too work on Sunday to win the game, this side being young looks hungry too win, albeit our disposals are average at best but the second efforts, one percenters and last but not least tackling presure will win more games going forward.

Yes its a big test this week, next week and the week after but at least we now have hope!

I agree it's getting ahead of ourselves and we really need to focus on simply winning, but it's a nice "what if" isn't it?

Yeah you are right but lets wait till sunday night before we pop any corks B)

If you think THIS is a big deal, wait until the end of round 8. We could be 2-2 this time next week, but with North (ES) and West Coast (MCG), to go with the tough ones of the Bulldogs and Brisbane...We could, if the footy gods deem it appropriate, be 4-4.

I had a look at the draw yesterday. I can see 8 possible wins. However, I think we'll probably lose at least a couple of those ones and hopefully we'll get a surprise win somewhere. I'm thinking 7 wins for the season. Whilst that's not much, it's still the same amount of games that we've won in the past two years!

As for early season form, we've got a good draw, but we shouldn't get too far ahead of ourselves. Teams suffer injuries and improve in form throughout the year and we don't know what the later part of the season will hold.

As for the Tiges. I don't think we should take this game easy. We should have a decent crack at them and try to get a big win, not for percentage, but to reward the long suffering fans and boost membership.

The key for our confidence is in the tackling. The first half the first and second efforts in tackling were there, but the third and fourth effort that got us the opportunities from the Collingwood game weren't. The second half it was back, and hitting them hard and kept the pressure constant. Richmond is low on confidence, if we heap the pressure on early they might just crumble. Still i expect them to come out strong this week as would fancy themselves a chance.

Sylvia being back will certainly help.

the percentage will depend upon score for and against. it's not the 41 point margin that will determine whether we get to 100 %. we owe richmond one for their win over us last season. demoralising. ;)

and then take on Port at Darwin, win that and we are in the 8 after 9 rounds. Who wouldn't have taken that after round 1?

I have to admit, I have the same thoughts.

I'm semi-confident that we'll win. But if we play like we did in the first half against Adelaide, or in Round 1, and Richmond apply themselves (make no mistake, they'll be as fired up as can be given that we're probably the only team they feel like they have a chance against), then we could find ourselves in a bad place.

I know that's pessimistic, but I guess it's the result of us being the favourites for the first time in years. I prefer us going in as underdogs.
