I went for the $20 a month debit plan this time round. With the money I would have normally spent up front I bought a new jersey & a few sets of Christmas cards, there so corny that there awesome.

This plan also means you don't have to worry about renewing because when your initial 12 months is up it just automatically renews with the next months payment. A way better debit than my car insurance every month!

So....for those of use who've purchased 2010 memberships, when do we receive them?

I did think MFC said early December but I was hoping someone here might know for sure.

Just renewed the rest of the family and the dog and cat and was told that memberships should be started to be posted out in about a weeks time. Can't wait to drive around with my 2010 membership to show the world (of Melbourne).

Thanks very much. I'm looking forward to getting my membership kit and the members polo because, stuck here in Brisbane and engaged to a rabid Geelong supporter I need to show some MFC pride. Now, if I can only locate my old posters of Steve Smith, Gary Baker, Peter Giles and Peter Moore I'll be set, lol.

Dose anyone know other clubs membership numbers?

What is the target, for MFC this year? Personally i'd be happy with 35,000.

I would be very happy with 35,000.

Here is a small sample of some other clubs: -

Hawthorn are on 30,857.

North Melbourne are on 6,892.

Western Bulldogs are on 14,980.

Richmond are on 12,160.

St.Kilda are on 3,010.

Collingwood are 20,000 approx.

*Some might not have been updated for a little while.

Hawthorn 30,000 already, they must have sold their commodores.

Also, you have to remember that not all clubs count members in the same way. MFC sell an option for people who can't attend matches (for those of us overseas or interstate, etc) and it is counted towards our membership tally. Richmond sell a similar option but they don't include it in their tally. Some clubs count match-day only, others include every type of package. When Hawthorn play their 4 games in Tassie they sell a 'mini membership' which gives you entry to all 4 games. That gets counted towards their membership tally. Aurora Park in Tassie has 20,000 capacity. Sell out all 4 games and you can add a lazy 15,000 to your membership tally (5,000 may be set aside for the visiting team). Doesn't actually mean any of those people support Hawthorn, just that they wanted to see the games and it was the only way to ensure they got a seat.

Does anyone know how this compares to this time last year?

And I could be wrong, but wasn't our membership only some 20,000 a few years ago?

I know we had around 31,000 last year.

31,506 - 2009 season.

Approx ~3,000 in front of same time last year.

Purchased mine a couple weeks ago - making sure I kept my seats. Looking forward to my Gold Card. Also signed up my son who will be 9 years consecutive next season (he is 11). Before the season starts I will get memberships for my wife and daughter. I couldn't last year due to finances. They don't go to the games but I like to help the club out, and I am sure in a couple of years when we are doing well they wil decide to come to a few games. Happy for someone to hold me to it.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

The Demons were blown out of the water in the first quarter and clawed their way back into the contest but it was a case of too little too late as they lost another close one to Carlton losing by 1 point at the MCG.
