Yes, if possible, it would be good to have a report. I sure miss the days of "Barry from Beach Road".

I have searched the web and can't find a report anywhere.....

According to their website they have a practice match this Thursday. Round one is not for a couple of weeks yet from the look of it.

Sorry but Barry (my father) now resides in Queensland and will be making a comeback in May to report on the Casey Scorpions v Gold Coast game at Labrador in May.

I couldn't make it to the game because I went to the Melbourne v Hawthorn game and haven't been able to discover much (other than the fact that Michael Newton kicked four goals and the team lost by 12). The Bendigo team was predominantly Essendon players with 2 or 3 Bendigo players who had AFL experience. About 10 Demons also played for Casey.

If anyone wants a report on the game they'll have to make do with this (Bombers thump Casey) but you'd hardly know that Casey played at all. Skipper Kyle Matthews did not play but suffered an injury when bashed outside a pub (see separate thread).

All I know is that:

1. Sam Blease played half a game, did a few good things and 'pulled up well'.

2. Jack Watts was 'pretty good'.

Apart from getting more info about Gysberts those two bits of info are as much as I'd hope for.

Garland not dying would also be the sort of info I'd hope for

Jack Watts played up the ground and had come classy touches.

MELBOURNE'S Jack Watts will be missing until at least round four after being put on a modified program by the Demons on his return from a back injury.

The 2008 No.1 draft selection appeared sharp playing more than half a match on Saturday for Casey Scorpions, but Demons development coach and Scorpions coach Brad Gotch said he was likely to play another two games in the VFL.

"He's starting to get his touch back, I reckon," Gotch said.

"It's only his second game back. He played only 50 per cent last week and he played about 60 per cent this week.

"I thought he contributed pretty well. You'd be hoping that he'd want to step up to 75 or 80 per cent next week and then the week after he will maybe play a full game [in the VFL]." - Watts to stay out

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
