NAB Challenge Week 2

Excellent. Newton's in. I hope he plays and is given the opportunity he deserves. Melbourne needs a forward. Even a crap one will be better than no one.

is there something wrong with Dunn??

is there something wrong with Dunn??

Perhaps I can help. Dunn was an ordinary footballer in the worst side in the AFL. Sadly, it matters little whether he plays or not.

..but you would think he could get a game before players like Bell, Newton, Fitzpatrick, etc..if he was healthy

Shouldn't Spencer be on there?

Damn we need Bate back asap. He's so important for us to get off to a good start this year.

The second half of his 2009 wasn't too bad so if he goes ok in the last 2 pre-season games, I'm sure he'll be in the round 1 side.

Didn't he pull up sore after the intra-club?

Thought I would get one going as I am keen to hear reports on players.

Can't get there myself unfortunately...

Hope we see some big improvements from last week. I for one am looking forward to

Jurrah bouncing back.

Which players would you like to see some improvement come from? ?

Go Dees.

I am hoping too go so i will post some reports. I am more so hoping to see a better attacking game plan rather than individual performances. Having said that i am looking for improvement in most players as not many can say they played to well last week. hopefully be a good day out

im pretty sure im going but i dont have an I phone so cant do live updates.

Im just hoping ot se emore attack on the ball. i reckon the game plan can flow on from some perceived pressure on the other team.

I would really like to see the team fired up and have a good first quarter.

Would also like to see a tight tag on Watson.

I have been away for a couple days and wondering why davey isnt playing tommorow... and who else has been omitted for what reasons?

I see that newton is back in, which isnt such a bad thing i dont think, sure he is a spud, but we need someone to kick to.. besides jurrah.

So could someone fill me in with the ommisions and daveys reason?

Thanks

nope? no one?

Davey appeared to cop a knock in the intraclub practice match and then had minimal impact and only played in the first half against Freo.

Nothing major I don't think.

nope? no one?

Geez.. ya have to wait longer than 11 mins- not everyone logs onto demonland when you start a thread demon_laugh.gif

Daveys a bit underdone due to an interrupted pre-season.. havent heard that theres anything more to it

Big Spenny copped a corkie..

Dont know about Jetta..

jetta's reason might be the fact that he was rubbish. do not think he would be close to making our best 22 if wona and maric are playing well.

yeah i'm going so i'll give you a run down of what i can remember

Doesnt have to be live.. any reports will be greatly appriciated!

Cheers in advance too.

All of them. Including the ones who didn't play last week.

I would also like to see the Bombers forward line fall on their collective face and give us a real glimmer of hope for our game later in the season.

The boys didn't get back until Monday night so it's a terrible preparation - effectively 4 days.

Yeah, but they had training Tuesday and didnt get to relax till Wednesday.. and with training Thursday..

Its really a 2-day break!

Spencer had a nasty corked hip(?) last game. Probably still sore. No reason to push him into this game on one leg.

I'm sorry.

Did you actually say that Newton 'deserves' an opportunity?

For doing what exactly?

I'll probably be keeping a close eye on Grimes, Jurrah, Trengove, Bell, Frawley, Scully, Maric.

I'm usually pretty useless with player analysis in live matches however.

Aside from the fact he was very ordinary!

LJ's probably a given atm..

I prefer to watch the overall style and play and wait for players to announce themselves to me.

A good Eg: Scullys last half, last quarter in particular.. wow. Best 1st game Ive seen in a long time.

A re-watch of the game confirmed this for me and i wonder if some missed just how good it was due to the circumstances!

A sharp, sharp mind.

Yeah, for some reason he's very underestimated here at 'land..

I think he's a big part of our future. His 1st year was as good as Bennys imo.

Kicked some great goals and had impact like his cousin lewis had recently with the swans..

the difference being the swans win games, so its noticed.

May end up on a wing / davey-type HFF..(with LJ, wona, possibly maric they can all fit if warranted)

His instinctive, natural style wont see him go unnoticed for much longer imho.

EDIT: Pretty much everyone was terrible tho Demonator.

At least he got some game time on the biggest, best ruckman in the league atm.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
