Wona and Shane Watson

Is it just me or do people think the plight of Wona is simular to that of Shane Watson in regard to his hamstrings. There were reports that Watson was doing an incredible amount of weights which inturn put stress on his hamstrings (as to why I have no idea)this resulted in him tearing his hamstring on numerous occassions. In early 2009 watson got off his extreme weight program and got leaner and he has not had any problems with his hamstrings since. In Wona's case he bulked up signifcantly from 2008 to 2009 years and has hamstring problems ever since. Is it merely a case of getting wona a little leaner?

Wona had slimmed down significantly and was a lot leaner when he first had the hamstring injury.

If anything, he is less lean now than he was when he first did it.

Try again.

This statement above is absolutely correct. It seems to be his running style that the football department is working on possibly under the care of Bohdan.

i think you will find that leaner in strawbs post has nothing to do with fat but with muscle.

my physio told me that my back was sore as a result of having poor core strength, as well as having weak gluteus maximus muscles. and as a result my hamstrings are over-developed, because they and all the other muscles in my back were overcompensating for my glutes given the running and weights i was doing.

basically i have to strengthen my arse - and that will fix my back.

mind you, my running style (and probably my weight lifting) techniques arent exactly flawless.

it is possible, as you say, wonnas running technique leads to this, as well as watsons doing too many weights.

but hey, what would i know.....

You are correct when I was referring to leaner I was referring to muscle rather than fat, He changed noticably in his looks from 08 to 09 and became visibily more stronger. Maybe he overdid it with the weights which has caused stress on his hammys? and I agree wona is a top bloke which watson is not. just a thought

Guest Rojik of the Arctic

Somebody has posted on BF that Aussie has OP problems and won't play until mid year - and it's not the only place I heard it but the source was pretty dodgy - while the mail from the club seems to be that he should be right by round 1. Can anyone shed some light on this?

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
