How will this affect our gate receipts for this game?

"Hawthorn members will get access to the season opener against Melbourne as 2010 member replacement games were released by the Club today. Members with replacement game access can scan their barcode at the MCG turnstiles and access any general-admission allocation."

If ALL Dork members turn up, there will be 50,000 non paying customers at the MCG, along with 35,000 MFC members.

Not much cash for the day!!!

Surely MFC would be awake to this and there will be compensation provided per hawthorn member entry. It would not be like the AFL to be unfair to a club.

What's the replacement for? Home game in Tassie or something?

It would be assumed they wouldn't get their reserved seats as per normal, entry only - it's just the same deal we've had the previous few years as compensation for a Home-'Away' game. One of which I know was a Hawks game because I went to it and sat up in the gods, god it was crap up there. Love my reserved seat waaayyy too much.

Surely there would be compenastion for the home team in this situation... It's nothing new.

Hawthorn is responsible for footing the bill for the cost of entry of their members, just as we would be when we have a replacement game for one of our home matches in NT, or Carrara in the past.

Nothing to worry about, we will be reimbursed.

Exactly. And given that the game is "free" for them, more will turn up, as opposed to a normal away game.

For us that means more "reimbursement" and a bigger crowd overall, especially being the first game of the season.

Are you sure of this? I reckon there would have to be some sort of compensation to our club, but there has never been some sort of official announcement about how this type of compensation works.

None of the clubs that Hawthorn has named as "free to members" seem to be arcing up therefore, there HAS to be some sort of compensation.

I was just after some official responses on how this works.

You might find our replacement game will be against Hawthorn late in the season. They do have to pay us something, but it is more important that we start to lift our crowd averages so we can get better drawing games and time slots. We need to start averaging 45K+ per home game at the MCG.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
