"Defence lawyer Rainer Martini said his client had a low IQ, was extremely immature and had a difficult, fractured family background.

"Defence lawyer Rainer Martini said his client was a collingwood supporter" would have covered it.

Let's see how the coward goes in stir. He won't of course, just a slap on the wrist most likely

All should get whipped if you ask me or let Nugget,Moloney & Miller in the cell with them for an hour. Then see who is brave.

They will all get jail,in particular the two who has pleaded not guilty.

BLOODY COWARDS

I think the "fact" he's a Collingwood supporter has nothing to do with this and we should not use this incident to generalise an entire supporter base.

He probably couldn't name 4 pies players and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even go to the game.

Seems to be a very sad individual who should be dealt with harshly IMO

Agreed 45HG16. I don't see what this has to do with Collingwood at all, and am pretty disappointed the author of the headline and the article bothered mentioning it. It's not relevant. This guy is just a farquit, it doesn't matter what football team he supports.

Agreed to some extent, but if they want to trot out the cliches about Range Rovers and snow chalets, they can cop some back. In this case, while not representative of all filth supporters, I would suggest the behaviour is "A-typical"

Collingwood jokes aside, I think your right.

There is no case of revenge or justice being done here.

A case of a dysfunctional bloke from a broken upbringing does damage to an innocent person.

The guy will and should be punished for the crime but there are no winners in this.

Hardly justifies it.

jail+ life ban from Afl games for the gutless pricks would b good

Howe does the AFL prevent a banned someone from attending an AFL game?

This is an event that transcends footy.

It is was a terrible thing to happen, especially for Brad and his family, but this is an issue that should be left to the courts to deal with.

We as football fans should obviously be against any violent action against supporters. We should not try to rile up opposition fans over violence against one of our own - using one horrible event to have a dig at an opposition.

I don't understand you last sentence, it seems it just repeats itself but I think you get where I'm coming from.

BTW, for every jibe we receive about Range Rovers I'm sure they get about 10 back in return.

Justifies what? A bit of banter on a MFC related forum with my comrades? P.................leeeaase!!!!

I can tell you, my Magpie mates have copped a few emails from me today and I suspect I will cop some from them over the course of the next year. Such is the life of a footy supporter.

Lucky them.

Each to their own.

That's right RR. As per usual, take one phrase out of a post, twist it to buggery and use it to suit you own ends. For what it is worth, I understand the rule of law better than most here and represented many clients in far worse situations than these guys. But I am not now in the Court of public opinion, rather I am on a Demon forum and your arbitrary use of censorship is far worse than anything I have said on this particular topic

If they can police it. Crown Casino would be far easier to police than any AFL ground particularly with the hordes of people flooding in the hour before kick off.

I didn't take anything out of context. And you as a lawyer should know better than that. And for the sake of facts I have used no censorship whatsoever. Everything you have written in this thread is your own and on display and its hardly impressive. But your chuffed. Good work.

Like I said "Each to their own". Go Chill.

Obviously its tough, but it does happen in EPL.

You can start by preventing anyone from buying tickets in that name, or from owning a membership.

Might not be foolproof, but there are ways.

RR, I am not referring simply to this topic. You regularly take things out of context and regularly censor other topics and posts. By the way, I am by no means chuffed and I have no need to "chill" I am quite comfortable, thanks very much. Perhaps the chill factor is something you seriously need to contemplate.

Sorry missed the cryptics after the word "issue". Given the situation at AFL grounds I cant see how they police it.

Agree its tough. In EPL they have smaller grounds with segragated entry and standing with security amongst and with the crowds before and during the games due to past disasters.

AFL tickets are not bought in people's name so without tighter IT security AFL grounds will struggle to enforce it.

I for one cant work out how you could ban someone from an AFL ground in Australia. Anyone can go up, pay their cash up at the window, and walk through the turnstile.

The 'woman' that threw the cup of beer at Brad Johnson last year while bragging about it to a friend on the phone 'banned' herself from Lions games for two years or something didnt she? It's merely a symbolic gesture to be banned from games here.

Same with a cricket game, if you get thrown out for playing up during a One-Day game at the G for instance, whats to stop you going around 3 gates further up and buying another ticket??

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
