Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

2010 jumper

Re: the circular neck, I like the way the cats have dealt with it on their new jumper. Would be equally as effective on the Dees jumper I think.

Mind you, this is only for aesthetic value, no idea how it effects the functionality of the strip.

Ah what the hell, I'll dare to be different.

I like the blunter V, I like the colours we wore this year and I like the round collar. I'm hoping we have a tight jumper like the crows.

I also like the idea of the 1858 on the back, like mfcrox said, let's be proud of our history.

If we're proud of our history, we'd also want the sharper 'V', not the "blunter V".

What do people think of the following design for the 2010 jumper???

MelbourneDemonsGuernsey2010copy.jpg

Changes from the 2009 jumper:

- Deeper and darker blue (bordering on black).

- Blood red yoke, which starts higher up on the arm cuff for a sharper appearance.

- The introduction of '1858' on the back on the jumper just under the collar. We are the oldest football club in the world... be proud of our heritage.

- Changes to sponsor logos, e.g. Reebok = RBK, and The Age = Volvo

We also need to keep the collar 'V' shaped... not the rounded 'T-shirt' look which are stupid looking. Unless there is a physiological advantage to wearing these rounded collars, I say that we stick with a 'V' shape. Looks more like a football jumper!

Any other changes needed???

very good...send to Scwabby..

colours are not impossible to reproduce but will depend entirely upon the material as base..and process. Theres a lot to choose from in Pantone :)...but not all for all materials. I dont really see why an agreeable combination of very very dark nay and a deep blood red cant be obtainable. Strangely the colours used to border this forum look pretty good in my opinion... but thats my computer..and may not be precisley the same on others... ( bit ought to be damn close ).

and get rid of that round neck.. ..simply tell Reebok... make it how we want..or we get someone else.. This is about US...not you !!

uhh... I think the issue is that this is about functionality first, not aesthetics. As it should be. The shape of the neckline is hardly a major factor in the scheme of things...

how does it aid or add to functionality ? seems a purely fashion thing

Not at all.

During the act of being tackled the old neck created strong and weak points causing a player to twist their body when caught.

This rounded neck spreads the load evenly and pulls the player back in the direction that the tackle is coming from, making it easier to stand up in a tackle and maintain balance.

there ya go...thats interesting.. would have thought yo might fashion it in a more refined manner.. without coming so abruptly across under the apple.. More as per the geelong version..

Point taken but I think the real test of standing up in a tackle..is core strength...relying on a piece of fabric is a bit 'late'

Its all about getting whatever edge you can.

If jumper design helps by 1% that might be enough to get up in a game decided by a point.

Its the same as having quick-dry material on the backs of shorts so players can dry their wet and slippery hands before taking a shot at goal in the wet.

If you can make things better for the players, within the rules, then why not? Another team will.

Must admit im not a fan of the 'circular' neck that was shown in some recent photos.

I understand that it's part of the tackle proof design (at least that's how it's been presented) but very, very much prefer the 'v' neck, as with mfcrox' post.

One thing that has stood out in recent times is the 'height' of the numbers. Seems like they'll be on the players shoulders sooner rather than later.

This is because of the space required for sponsorship I would have thought?!

Was watching an old replay of a Melb v Foots match back in '92 the other night. The numbers were just as high then as they are now.

I work at the AFL store and we recently got a delivery containing the MFC 2010 guernsey. I must say, I'm not impressed. The whole jumper is flawed. Firstly, the red yoke has been significantly toned down in that its just a duller red. I'm not too fussy about this but if anything the V has gotten wider not sharper. Secondly there are minimal changes to the blue. Thirdly the whole jumper just sits like a dress it isn't tight at all it drapes all over the place. The material seems a lot silkier and thin as well. It is a strange guernsey. Also as someone mentioned earlier in the thread jumper numbers seem to be getting a lot higher on the back...true to word the kapersky logo seems a lot higher on the back pushing the numbers up a bit. Meh. Disappointed. Reebok sucks.

I never understood why Adelaide went from Adidas to Reebok. Big step backwards.

$$$ possibly?

Not as big a step as you might think - I believe Adidas own Reebok.

Or it might be Nike that owns them - either way, using the same technology and sweatshops.

That is the best MFC jumper I've seen in decades. Really strong and reflective of our history. Love everything about it. Don't get sucked into the round neck giving a 1% advantage in tackling. swivelling or pirouetting. It looks shite with the red V - simple. The psychology of strength in appearance outweighs the other stuff. Don't be sheep and follow the other teams purely on their marketing advice. We are the original team remember. Let us be the leaders or at least don't follow simply for the sake of being in the majority. The majority don't win premierships!

Me too...but only if it's got the V neck.

If Col is wearing the actual 2010 jumper on the megastore page then it looks like they have stuck with the v neck.

The blue was my only real beef with the current jumper, bit hard to tell from the pic but if it is darker i might need to get one myself.

Are we sticking with the white clash guernseys? I thought they looked great, I got mine as soon as they were on the shelves.

Didn't the white clash guernseys go after one year and they're replaced by the red one.

The white ones were two years ago.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
